Spider-Man: No Way Home is definitely one of the most exciting upcoming projects from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There were various fan theories surrounding the project even before any trailer or any other detail was dropped regarding it. While most of these theories were cleared by the trailer there were other theories that were still left for us to wonder about. A major part of the movie is the theory that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire might be a part of this project. Both of them are supposed to reprise their roles as Spider-Men from the early ventures under Sony. It has become one of the most talked-about things based around the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It seems Sony might have hinted about the roles of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home in a new Tweet.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
MCU has fans glued to updates regarding the third film in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series since the movie could end up being the biggest event so far. The movie is supposed to be the first film to properly explore the concept of the Multiverse in MCU. This very concept could be the gateway to introducing previous renditions of Spider-Man into the movie. The reason behind this theory is that the movie is already featuring past villains like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Willem Defoe’s Green Goblin. These villains belong to the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb Spider-Man universes and their portrayal will be in the continuity of their original appearances.
Over the days there have been various hints and clues that are in a way suggestive of the fact that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire might reprise their Spider-Man roles. Recently, a clip from a set was leaked that showed Andrew Garfield wearing his costume but the actor denied his involvement with the project. But new evidence has emerged that is teasing the inclusion of Maguire and Garfield in the movie.
The project has been revealing details regarding the various facts about the movie as a part of the marketing for the film. Empire magazine recently revealed its new No Way Home Cover Photo. We got another photo that had a lot of Easter Eggs pointing towards the characters. And apparently, Sony Pictures UK’s official Twitter handle replied to the cover with a tweet featuring three spider emojis. Now, this does nothing but confirm what we’ve known for over a year now. All Three Spider-Men are in the film. Empire has also revealed a couple of stills from the film, so be sure to check those out as well.
But considering the fact that the movie will deal with multiversal shenanigans, this tweet could be a potential hint to the appearances of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the movie. This won’t actually be the first that Sony used their tweets for hinting and teasing for the marketing of their projects. In a previous example, Sony India’s official account had used an emoji-filled teaser for Spider-Man: No Way Home that actually led to the arrival of LEGO sets tied to the movie. Marvel has excelled in its marketing strategies over the years.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere in theaters on December 17.
