Here’s When Shazam 2 Takes Place After The First One
We didn’t actually get to see a trailer for the sequel to one of the most awesome DC Extended Universe films. We still got to see some rather interesting details from the movie that is still under production. The behind-the-scenes footage allowed us to see the villains of the movie and also gave us details for some of the most exciting points of the movie. It would be rather interesting to see how these details are worked out in the end product and what we will actually get to see at the end of the day. There’s a high chance we will get to see a lot more than we actually will get to witness things in a much better manner than we did in the movie. Zachary Levi just revealed when Shazam 2 takes place.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will see the further adventures of Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, and his foster family following the events of Shazam!. Plans for the sequel were under development by WB and DC right after the success of the first film. The first film performed well at the box office, netting $366 million worldwide with an overall budget of $80-100 million. The movie proved to be a success with both the critics and the fans enjoying it wholly.
When Shazam 2 Takes Place
Fans actually got to see some important details about the movie with the BTS trailer that was released during the DC FanDome. Amongst the major highlights of the footage was a look at the new villains, Kalypso and Hespera played by Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren. During the appearance at the event in China, Zachary Levi confirmed that the sequel will be set apart by 2 years from the original. The original movie portrayed Billy Batson at age 15 but we will see him at age 17 in the sequel as an adult. According to Levi, Billy has now become the leader of the Shazam family after spending two years fighting the thieves and criminals.
What Does This Two-Year Difference Mean?
It makes sense the sequel will be set some years after the first film as it would explain so much growth amongst the teenagers. Credit goes to David F. Sandberg, director of the film, for hurrying into making the project considering the young cast would have become too old to play their parts. The production for the film has already been completed and yet the movie won’t release for a full two years.
There are certain interesting changes that we will also get to see in the movie that would make sense. Grace Fulton will be seen playing both versions of Billy’s 19-year-old foster sibling Mary since her powers were actually set in the Golden Age. We will actually have to wait for the film to see how these changes will actually impact the narrative of the film in itself. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will premiere on June 2, 2023.
