Everything We Know About Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 So Far

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will bring the group of oddballs back again after the events of Avengers: Endgame. We haven’t seen the characters ever since we last saw them in that feature and it’s about time we got to see what they are up to. The characters will feature in Thor: Love & Thunder in probably a small role considering the movie has already gotten a pretty heavy cast. There’s a lot of detail about the movie that has been kept under wraps and it seems that this only adds to the excitement for the fans. The movie has been through a considerable amount of controversy and delays, but it’s currently in production. Let’s take a look at everything we know about Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 till now.

1. James Gunn Will Be Returning To Both Write & Direct

One of the major controversies in MCU was when James Gunn was removed from continuing his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. This was done on the basis of some old tweets by the director that was discovered. But later he was invited back to finish his trilogy of the movies. Even though he is returning for the film, this will his last movie (probably in the MCU), and that only increases the anticipation for the project.

2. Main Cast Also Returning For The Movie

The entirety of the original cast will be returning for the film. They have confirmed their own involvement with the finale of the trilogy. Gamora will also be returning for the movie but this will be the 2014 version that had come to the future along with Thanos during the events of Avengers: Endgame. Elizabeth Debicki is also rumored to return as the Sovereign’s Ayesha from the second film in the franchise, along with Sean Gunn as Kraglin who will probably replace Yondu.

3. The Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special Is A Must Watch

Everything We Know About Guardians

There is another reason for fans of the franchise considering we will be getting a Holiday Special that is set to come out in late 2022. The film will be filmed alongside Vol. 3 and hence in a way it could be counted as a type of third entry to the franchise and it might also end up introducing a new Marvel character to the MCU. This clearly makes this movie a must-watch in preparation for the third film in the franchise.

4. An Emotional Journey

Gunn has been working on the movie for quite a long time now and he has been releasing the details regarding the pre-production for the film while finishing the script. Recently, cast members Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff revealed that they had read the script and it had actually brought them to tears. The script promises to be a rather emotional journey that will explore the characters post the events of the Infinity Saga.

5. Rocket, Nebula, & Mantis Will Play Major Roles

According to the directors, a major amount of importance will be given to the characters who were not explored properly so far. The primary focus will be on Rocket who has not been given much for his storyline and the mystery behind his origin could end up serving a rather important arc in the franchise. Let’s hope that Gillan and Klementieff’s characters will also have major features considering they felt quite emotional after reading the script.

6. Stakar & The Original Ravagers Will Probably Return

Everything We Know About Guardians

We got to see the original crew of the Ravagers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 led by Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar. Comic book fans might identify him as a member of the original Guardians of the Galaxy before Star-Lord formed his own version of the team in the modern age versions. Since Stallone also worked with Gunn in The Suicide Squad we can expect him to make a return in the finale of the trilogy too.

7. Chance of Cameos of Stars From The Suicide Squad

Taking James Gunn’s tendency of cameos from other stars into consideration we can assume that the movie might feature stars from The Suicide Squad. The latter itself featured Mantis star Pom Klementieff in a major role. And some of the stars in the movie themselves have appeared and played significant characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

8. Dave Bautista’s Final Appearance As Drax

The finale will make Dave Bautista’s final appearance in the role of Drax the Destroyer. It seems he is also calling quits in the franchise along with James Gunn. Bautista had said he won’t appear in the finale if Gunn wasn’t allowed to helm the project but he returned as the circumstances got better. He has stated his age, 54, as a major reason for not appearing in the franchise anymore.

9. Will Poulter Will Be Playing Adam Warlock

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had an ending that teased the appearance of Adam Warlock in the franchise and it seems that this will actually come to fruition. Gunn officially announced that Will Poulter has been cast in the role following the leak about the detail online. The character might make his debut in the MCU during the Holiday Special itself.

10. The Movie Will Be Released On May 5, 2023

Recently, Marvel delayed the release dates for certain projects that are going to come out in the next few years. But Vol. 3 was intact! The finale of the trilogy will come out on May 5, 2023, after so many years of chaos following the firing and rehiring of James Gunn.
