Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings set up a new superhero addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is no idea to what levels this character could go to in the upcoming MCU movies. This could only mean that there is a lot more for us to expect in the movies than we could have thought of. While other upcoming projects are also setting up new heroes. But amongst these new heroes, we are also getting a glance at the future villains. While it is not confirmed how some of these characters might behave in the future but it is absolutely sure that they are gonna play big roles. Let’s look at the fate of Ten Rings based on the Shang-Chi Post Credits Scene and the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The Ten Rings
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings gave us a better idea and properly used the Ten Rings. It almost felt like the movie mocked how the previous rendition of Ten Rings was a joke and an absolute failure. While this comes out as very funny but the Ten Rings we got to see here was actually much better than what we were introduced to in Iron Man 3. The concept of Mandarin was also ridiculed in the movie and Ben Kingsley even reprised his role from Iron Man 3. He faces the consequence of acting as a much-dramatized version of Wenwu, the original leader of the Ten Rings. Marvel even uses the character in a very nice manner that plays out perfectly as a reference to his previous appearance. This came as a surprise as ever since the mention of another Ten Rings fans were excited to see how Marvel deals with that.
The Ten Rings that we got to see here in this movie was a massive change in what we were introduced to earlier. They are shown to be training extensively under the supervision of Wenwu himself. He uses them to gain power all across the world. The opening scenes give us a hint of the influence the Ten Rings have had all across the world. This is just a small hint to the massive power Wenwu had due to this group. But they eventually end up helping the people of Ta Lo in defeating the soul suckers.
Shang-Chi Post Credits Scene
The post-credits scene shows us that Xialing has taken over the Ten Rings. We are made aware that Xialing was in fact given the responsibility to dismantle the group. Xialing is a very complex character in the movies from the very beginning. One cannot guess for what purpose Xialing might end up using the Ten Rings now. There is a chance that this could just be a hint at more such fight arenas as we saw before in Macau. We do see John John and Razor Fist stand next to her in this scene. A lot of female fighters also appear the female characters were undermined during Wenwu’s reign of the Ten Rings.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Connection
While there is no hint at where Xialing might take this group now but we can only assume based on other MCU projects. We saw the first appearance of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Falcon and Winter Soldier. There we actually got to see her making her first moves for her own team of characters. Her next appearance in Black Widow also confirmed this theory. There is a major chance that Xialing might connect with her as a means of redemption for herself. Val might appear as a false opportunity for the Ten Rings to redeem themselves of their past acts.
There is also a chance that the Ten Rings might appear in the upcoming Armor Wars project. Considering that Rhodey has had a previous close interaction with the fake Ten Rings. They can be friends or foes here considering their history with each other.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung.
