Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken a dramatic turn toward the absurd by opening up to the Multiverse. Their interconnectedness has now taken up a whole new dimension in terms of complexity. Starting from something like a single movie franchise and now diversifying into the multiverse takes the vision that only Marvel Studios had. Regardless, now we have come to the juncture where everything is about to sync back up come the release of Spider-Man No Way Home. Both the Sony iterations of Spider-Man are rumored to be reconciled with MCU in this movie. But the main question on everyone’s mind after the trailer is – What is the purpose of this Mystery Box in No Way Home?
Now as things stand, we know precious little about No Way Home, but we do have some idea about the things that will transpire. Most likely than not Doctor Strange already knows about the multiverse because of the events of WandaVision and Loki. The events were so catastrophic that they would have echoed through all of time and space and leaked onto the sacred timeline.
The main reason for such tremors is the sudden creation of the multiverse that HWR tried to stop from happening. Regardless, the TV shows have done something that the movies could not. The multiverse is very real and it is coming our way, we know next to nothing about it and our heroes are going into it to fight powered-up villains that we cannot plan for. It is a very exciting premise but a rather steep battle for our heroes.
Mystery Box in No Way Home
It goes without saying that with such insurmountable odds stacked against our protagonists there has to be some sort of help that the heroes can count on. We believe that this help will have to come from the smartest man in the multiverse, ergo Dr. Strange. Although one might not be enough to handle our problems when we combine the powers of all the different versions of Strange from the multiverse we get a powerful army of super-beings who can accomplish almost anything. It has already been confirmed that there are different dimensions in each universe so the power of this Strange’s Army may multiply as they come together.
As far as No Way Home is concerned we expect that this will be the course of the story. Doctor Strange will do the spell on Peter’s request and then proceed into the multiverse. Here Strange and Spidey will encounter multiple villains including some from older franchises like Dr. Octopus. As the movie goes on things will get increasingly tense and difficult.t for both Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Spidey will have to fight more and more villains while Strange will have to stop the multiverse from collapsing in on itself. While Strange is more than experienced in handling such chaos, it is all very new for Spidey. More likely than not he’ll be overpowered by the villains.
We think that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will come to the aid of Tom Holland. But we also know there has to be more to the plan of the heroes. The theory suggests that the boys seen in the hand of Spider-Man are a containment device to house all the anomalies of the multiverse. This is made by Strange and given to Peter to properly contain the threats in his vicinity.
We do not know whether this theory is accurate or not but it makes a lot of sense at the moment. It gives us a reference frame for the box and why Spider-Man wants to hold onto it so dearly. The box is the only way to at he can fight the anomalies and he may have been to control it properly hence attracting Strange’s wrath. The question of whether it will play an important role in the movie remains to be answered. But our net is on it being a containment device built by Dr. Strange. There is another theory that suggests that it is Strange Supreme who fights Peter and the Box is created by good Strange to nullify Strange Supreme’s absorption powers. Whatever the case might be, the box is very important.
What do you think about this theory? Does it seem viable or does it seem like something that will never happen? Let us know your opinions in the comments below and keep watching this space for everything Marvel, DC, and Hollywood.
