Marvel is ready to add a lot of new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4. These characters will be introduced using both movies and shows. Even side characters from the projects have left us in a state of excitement regarding their involvement in MCU as either heroes or villains. Since the end of the Infinity Saga, fans are wondering about who might end up being the big baddie for the next saga. He may or may not be teased in Doctor Strange 2. On that note, let’s look at the comics because Doctor Strange seems to be fighting a villain stronger than Thanos.
As there are so many new powerful characters that are being added to the roster of heroes, there are theories making rounds regarding the powerful villain we might get. One major villain has been making rounds in fan theories as to the next possible Thanos-like enemy to the Avengers. Here’s a look at why the new Doctor Strange nemesis, Kulan Gath, might actually be more terrifying than Thanos.
Thanos is the most terrifying villain due to his acts in both the Marvel comics and the movies. His singular act of using the Infinity Gauntlet to snap half of all life from existence has given him the title of this terrifying villain. The character is not only motivated on the basis of having been bad or anything but his quest for a balance in the universe is at the heart of his actions. The character’s wrath saw us lose some of our favorite characters without any possible chance of a comeback. This doesn’t come as a shock since that led to the end of the Infinity Saga and the events were supposed to leave a certain impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kulan Gath – A Villain Stronger Than Thanos
But it seems the Thano’s deadliest act isn’t possibly the scariest part of Marvel yet. A new Doctor Strange nemesis just appeared and made a deadly attack on the Avengers with massive repercussions. Kulan Gath just launched his own attack on the Avengers and every other of the greatest heroes of Earth. The consequences of this attack seem to be pretty heavy on the heroes considering not only did the heroes face defeat but almost all of them got murdered. Not only this but he appears to be way more terrifying than Thanos due to his actions that take place in the aftermath of winning against this superteam.
Savage Avengers #24 created by Gerry Duggan, Patch Zircher, Java Tartaglia, and Travis Lanham showed us the consequences of what would have happened if the Avengers would have lost their final battle against Thanos. After Doctor Strange teleports the greatest heroes and villains from all across the universe to fight against the evil sorcerer Kulan Gath. The latter was using his powers to control people and create his own army in New York City. During this very battle, we get to witness the real power of Kulan Gath as he mows through the Marvel heroes with absolute ease, killing She-Hulk and biting off Captain America’s shield. This ends with most of the heroes dead and their heads and bodies impaled with spikes.
Following these events, the surviving characters Doctor Strange, Conan the Barbarian, and Bruce Banner are forced to call in Kang the Conqueror to travel through time and fix this massive loss. Kulan Gath had made sure that each and every death was more gruesome by decapitating and impaling the heroes. While Thanos caused widescale death, the deaths caused by Kulan Gath were more brutal. Kulan Gath could now rule the Earth while every one of the major heroes is dead. The consequence would continue to be unless the surviving heroes manage to convinces Kang to help them reverse the damage.
This could give us a hint of the damage that Kulan Gath might make if he appears in the MCU. With no confirmation regarding the next possible villain like Thanos, we can only wonder.
