Aquaman 2: First Look at New Stealth Suit of Aquaman Revealed

Marvel is having fun with multiple projects coming out all through the year expanding its universe with solo projects too. They are expanding their universe with crossovers and a possibly new saga. DC is not holding back either, with new projects lined up in the DCEU. They also have new projects lined up that are not related to the DCEU directly. The primary focus for the upcoming DC projects is going to be solo features and the team-ups are going to be saved for a later following their failures. Jason Momoa has revealed his looks for the sequel to Aquaman movie, giving us a possible look at the stealth suit for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Aquaman

James Wan, who is popular for his horror franchise with the Conjuring universe, will be returning to direct the sequel. His work on the original Aquaman made it a fairly successful movie for both the audience and received an okay rating from the critics. He is attempting to take the movie in new directions and fans are excited to see what becomes of the fan-favorite king of Atlanta. Even the star of the titular character himself is preparing in excitement for the project.

Momoa was quoted as saying,

I am finally in England. It is sunny out, it’s amazing, and I’m gonna start Aquaman 2 tomorrow. This is the last day of the brown. I’m gonna be a blonde. Supposedly [they] have more fun. I don’t know about that. We’ll test it out. But I’m excited to see [director] James [Wan], see my whole cast.

Costume Reveal

His Instagram posts show the suits that he will be wearing for the role. The first one appears to be the traditional costume that is worn by the character in Aquaman’s original comic books. The same cannot be said for the second image as it shows Aquaman in a darker costume. The post can be seen here. Fans are hinting that this could be the possible stealth suit for the character. Momoa is presently in London as they begin filming the sequel to the movie.

What To Expect

James Wan has mentioned that his time he plans to increase the horror angle in stories with the second outing in the franchise. This comes since fans were excited to see if he would have brought up those elements in the original movie. “Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires,” he said. “You can take the boy out of horror but you can never take the horror out of the boy.”

About the idea of changing the tone in the sequel, he said,

That’s partially because they were not familiar with the comic book, which deals in this very lurid, strange world. People were taken aback that I didn’t throw all that stuff away and make a dark, heavy film. But I didn’t feel that would have been right for it. So with the second film, I feel it will be easier for people to accept where we go because I’ve already laid the foundation.

We will find more about the movie itself in the upcoming DC FanDome virtual event. The movie is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The film will see Jason Momoa in the titular role while Amber Heard returns as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will open in theaters on December 16, 2022.

The other confirmed upcoming films from DC’s slate include The Batman, which arrives on March 4, 2022, Black Adam on July 29, 2022, The Flash on November 4, 2022, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theatres on June 2, 2023. DC also has films like a Superman Reboot, Batgirl, Static Shock, Green Lantern Corps. and Blue Beetle under development. But those films are undated till now.
