GvK Hinted At The Real Mission of Ghidorah In Godzilla 2

When we talk about crossovers, 2021 literally redefined the very meaning of the word with Godzilla vs. Kong. The Titans prepare themselves for a head-on collision, only to collaborate later on to fight a bigger enemy. The movie focused on many aspects. Elements like Hollow Earth, APEX, the relations between the two Titans, and Kong’s connection with Jia were all covered beautifully. But the movie actually comprises a big element from Godzilla: King of the Monsters according to a fan theory. This GvK theory hints at the real mission of Ghidorah in Godzilla 2.

The Real Mission of Ghidorah in Godzilla 2

The three-headed monster isn’t part of Earth’s natural order. This could be the reason why he didn’t follow the paths of Titans like Mothra, Godzilla, or Behemoth. The interests of these Titans were to protect the balance of nature. Ghidorah became a key in Emma and Jonah’s plan to rejuvenate the Earth’s ecosystems. But he rather woke up a dozen Titans started terraforming the Earth.

Now, a fan theory via Reddit claims the actual reason why Ghidorah came to Earth in the first place. This ties directly with the Hollow Earth which was introduced in Godzilla vs. Kong. The theory claims that Ghidorah was actually trying to steal the secret Hollow Earth energy source. This is the same power that APEX used to power Mechagodzilla.

Godzilla vs, Kong stated that Antarctica was a Hollow Earth entry point and the location of Ghidorah’s frozen body is not a coincidence. The theory also believes that Ghidorah was either entering or leaving the entry point. But this is when Godzilla and possibly other Titans too intercepted him. They figured out his true intentions and killed him. The theory simply states that Ghidorah wanted to go to Hollow Earth to make him more powerful.

Ghidorah & Hollow Earth

Godzilla: King of the Monsters Monsterverse

Godzilla: King of the Monsters revealed that Ghidorah, the three-headed monster was an alien. Monarch discovered that Ghidorah is an alien invader. The monster traveled to Earth from a distant planet thousands of years ago. But after his arrival, he was encountered by Godzilla and defeated. His alien nature was made clear when his malicious behavior came into play.

Ghidorah could have figured out the power from outer space before coming to Earth. But why Hollow Earth? Well, his energy absorption abilities have been seen before. Ghidorah grew stronger from biting the electrical grid during the final battle in Boston. And with that power, he was also able to defeat Godzilla. Just imagine what he could have done after harnessing the power of Hollow Earth. he could have easily defeated Godzilla and possibly other Titans too.

MechaGodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong

Kong finally made it back to his home, thanks to APEX. But their final intention wasn’t all that well. Seeing Kong in his natural habitat was a crucial part of the movie. Hollow Earth was seen and it might be explored in the sequel as well. Considering the sequel, the director of GvK, Adam Wingard, hinted that a possible sequel would explore the “Hollow Earth.” If that is the case, then this possible theory, if right, can be explored.

During his interview Deadline, he said:

“I would absolutely love to continue. The clear starting point we teed up, exploring Hollow Earth, I think there is a lot more to do there. This is a pre-history of Planet Earth, where all the titans come from. We tee up some mystery in this film, things I want to see resolved and explored and pushed to the next level. If I have the opportunity, I know what I will do. It’s up to Warner Bros and Legendary if they have an appetite.”

Real Mission of Ghidorah In Godzilla 2

MechaGodzilla was powered by Ghidorah, and it is believed that was the monster’s subconscious that took over the machine. So if Mechagodzilla was indeed a resurrection of Ghidorah, then it is Godzilla’s worst fear come true. And we all know what MechaGodzilla did to Godzilla and Kong both. If the theory is right and Ghidorah would have got access to the Hollow Earth’s power, then he would have easily beat Godzilla. So the power of the Hollow Earth was a matter of interest to both, people from Earth and monsters from outer space as well.
