Godzilla vs. Kong is one of the most anticipated crossovers there is, and the reason is obvious – the fight between the two legendary beasts is almost here for us to watch! This first happened in Toho’s 1962 crossover, King Kong vs. Godzilla, which had an ending that leaned in Kong’s favor. Like the original fight, Kong will get a size boost to pose a physical challenge to Godzilla. And now, it is time that the viewers get the answer to everything. Yes, the first official trailer for Godzilla vs Kong has been released, and it is nothing less than amazing. You may check the trailer below:
The beginning of the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer introduces Jia (Kayle Hottie) a girl who appears to be an orphan. According to Rebecca Hall’s MonsterVerse character, Jia is the only person Kong will communicate with, and that due to their connection, Kong has become the child’s self-appointed protector. It could be that the relationship they share in the movie is on a telepathic level. Kong having telepathic powers in Godzilla vs. Kong is an idea that was originally set up in the credits of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The trailer for the upcoming MonsterVerse film revealed that Kong is able to communicate with a young child.
It’s not surprising to see something of this sort. Miki Saegusa (Megumi Odaka) was able to hear Godzilla’s thoughts in the Heisei series. The possibility of humans also sharing this power in the MonsterVerse was teased in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. In the credits’ redacted text, it was mentioned that ancient humans “may have developed methods of telepathic communication with the creatures”. It’s possible that ancient civilizations had humans amongst them who could reach the Titans with their minds. It’s known from King of the Monsters director Mike Dougherty that humans could connect with Titans through music, but now telepathy is another way of speaking with them.
Like the Titans and humans from thousands of years ago, Kong and Jia may possess the capability to communicate with each other telepathically. Hopefully, though, Monarch won’t repeat the mistakes of the civilizations that came before them by abusing Jia’s link to Kong. For right now, it looks like Monarch’s plan is for Kong to protect the world against an unnamed threat, but they could risk more problems if they ever try to force Kong into doing things that go against his nature. Instead, they can just have Jia tell Kong whenever danger is present.
Based on what’s known about the ancient Titan War, it could be that this ability is what started it all in the first place. It was said in the credits that humans tried to control the Titans (presumably with their telepathic powers) and use them as weapons of war. That’s when their peaceful relationship fell apart and the Titans began to rebel against their masters. It does look like Monarch will indeed be relying on her link with Kong to accomplish their mission, but they could cause a great deal of trouble if they go too far with that.
Regardless of how telepathy plays into Monarch’s long-term goals, it’s become apparent that what Kong has with Jia will be one of the movie’s most important relationships. Keeping her safe from harm could help motivate Kong to succeed when he faces off against the current King of the Monsters, the two-winged Titans – Nozuki and Warbat, and any other villains that may be hiding in Godzilla vs. Kong.
Godzilla vs Kong is rated PG-13 and is described in the following manner,
“In a new world where man and monster now coexist, Monarch must lead the way to a prosperous future alongside the Titans, keeping humanity in check. However, rival factions that want to manipulate the Titans for war begin to rise under the guise of a nefarious conspiracy, threatening to wipe out all life on the planet. Meanwhile, on Skull Island, strange seismic activity draws the attention of Godzilla and Kong alike.”
we might just see the ferocious Godzilla’s nemesis, MechaGodzilla, in action against the mighty King Of Monsters, Godzilla. There are theories that suggest that Skullcrawler is also making its way back to the plot and that in the end, Godzilla and Kong would have to team up. Other theories suggest that this is where one of the beasts will be put to the rest by the other.
The teaser also hints at the ancient myths and history of the ‘war’ that took place. More surprisingly, we also see Kong use a deadly ax during the battle, an ax that can absorb Godzilla’s atomic breath.
