DCEU Rumor: Grant Gustin To Cameo In The Flash (2022)

We all know how Zack Snyder’s Justice League gave a solid opening to Barry Allen. And since then, we have been waiting for the superhero to carry a solo flick on his shoulder. The Flash (2022) is officially underway, and in full swing. We know that The Flash is set to bring the multiverse to DCEU. The movie will focus on Barry dealing with his past as he had to witness the death of his mom when he was a kid. Speaking of multiverses, what if I tell you, Grant Gustin is to cameo in The Flash (2022) is suddenly in reports?

Grant Gustin To Cameo In The Flash

Grant Gustin is the star of the CW Arrowverse series of the same name as the upcoming film. However, Illuminerdi has reported that Gustin will have a cameo in The Flash. But as of now, details aren’t so confirmed regarding the capacity of Gustin’s role. But still, it’s reported that Gustin will be playing his version of Barry Allen from the CW series. Well, his presence wouldn’t come as a surprise to me because of the nature of the film, which is the multiverse.

But this is not the first time that these two are coming together on the same screen. The pair have appeared together on the CW before. The incident happen when Miller’s version of Barry Allen appeared during the crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths. But still, Gustin’s appearance in such a major DCEU film is a big nod to the franchise. Moreover, I think it’s crazy if we get to see two Flash in action. Grant Gustin to Cameo In The Flash is maybe the biggest news regarding the movie after the Batman commotion of course.

Andy Muschietti Shares a Glimpse of Flash’s Upgraded Super Suit

But that is not where the excitement stops. Andy Muschietti, the director, is hard at work with promoting The Flash. He offered a major tease of Barry Allen’s upgraded superhero costume in The Flash. Muschietti took to his Instagram, sharing the photo of the upgraded costume of Barry Allen, and only tagging the official page of the movie. The upgrade seems important as there might be a Multiversal superhero team-up in store.

It was confirmed in August 2020 that Barry would get a new costume in The Flash designed by Bruce Wayne. But it remains unclear if it’ll be the Ben Affleck version or Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight. Muschietti said, “As you can see, it’s more organic like it’s been built from his friend Bruce Wayne, this time.” Previously, Barry has sported a bulky costume like an armor sort of. But his new version, to Muschietti’s point, appears to be sleeker from what little can be seen in the image. This change in the suit is probably happening because of The Flash series. Ezra Miller’s Barry was impressed by the suit that Gustin’s version of The Flash was wearing.

How Zack Snyder Changed The Flash

Snyder introduced Darkseid in Justice League and revealed that Steppenwolf was just a pawn. Originally, the Justice League was defeated. But this is where Barry Allen saves the day. He stepped into the Speed Force and reversed time. This was something that was never seen ever in the DCEU. This is where Barry Allen is set more than just a speedster. In both versions of the Justice League (Theatrical and HBO Max), the color of Barry’s lightning was blue. There are multiple directions in which the Flash can lead after Snyder’s Cut.

But along the same lines, Barry is getting a major change. Well, let’s just call it an upgrade. In Muschietti’s The Flash announcement, his lightning color was changed to yellow along with the tease of a suit change. This points towards a notable evolution. In the DCEU, the change from blue to yellow could have a symbolic meaning to demonstrate emotional progress for Barry. So from here on now, Barry is going to be a different superhero altogether.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash movie is said to take inspiration from the DC Comics story Flashpoint. This is of note, as Flashpoint revolves around Barry traveling back in time to save his mother, inadvertently creating a new reality where the world is on the brink of total destruction. Barry’s actions set the stage for DC’s New 52 relaunch in 2011. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, and Maribel Verdú. The film arrives in theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
