The Flash: Barry Allen Is Getting A Major Change After Justice League

The Flash is getting incredibly powerful!

Zack Snyder’s Justice League improved the team of heroes in a major way. Cyborg got serious character development. This included his relationship with this father and accepting himself as Cyborg in a more dramatic way. The rest of the members of the Justice League were given a good weightage as well. But someone else outshined everyone in this four-hour movie. With a bigger threat to deal with, the Justice League had to step up their game.

Snyder finally revealed that Darkseid is the real villain, and Steppenwolf was just one of his allies. Justice League practically lost the battle. But the hero who deserves major credit is Barry Allen. I mean literally saved the day. When the Justice League failed to stop the Unity of the Mother Boxes, it created a massive explosion. This resulted in all the members of the Justice League literally blowing into mere particles. But this was Barry’s moment to shine. He stepped into the Speed Force and reversed time. One of the many things Snyder incorporated in his cut.

But Snyder’s Cut was not a part of the DC Extended Universe. Barry Allen is yet to be seen in a solo flick – one of the most anticipated DC projects since 2014. Good news for us, the principal photography for The Flash (2022) is officially underway. Andy Muschietti is directing the film. Now that Warner Bros. is not going ahead with the SnyderVerse leaves ample room for changes to the character. The promo for the movie is concerning with Barry’s power getting recolored visually from the Snyder Cut, precisely Flash’s lightning.

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Barry’s original speed color was blue. But in Muschietti’s The Flash announcement, his lightning color was changed to yellow along with the tease of a suit change. This points towards a notable evolution. Barry Allen met the CW’s Barry Allen in The Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover Event. DCEU’s Barry was pretty impressed with The Flash’s suit, and the moniker of The Flash also made sense for him. So, we understand the inspiration behind his suit change, his new name, and perhaps even the change in his lightning.

In both versions of the Justice League (Theatrical and HBO Max), the color of Barry’s lightning was blue. There are multiple directions in which the Flash can lead into after Snyder’s Cut. Muschietti has different plans for the Flash and especially when it comes to the super speed while going into the Speed Force.

Whedon’s Cut blew the 2017 version of the Justice League totally out of proportion. Hence, this very change can help differentiate Flash from this version. In the comics, the blue light represents that Barry has stepped into the Speed Force. So the yellow light can have a totally different meaning altogether, and newly invented as well. The Speed Force is barely scathed in the DCEU. Hence, the movie has the opportunity to take a totally unique take on it. In the DCEU, the change from blue to yellow could have a symbolic meaning to demonstrate emotional progress for Barry.

The Flash (2022) will focus on Barry dealing with his past as he had to witness the death of his mom when he was a kid. It will also shed light on time travel, and Multiverses. But the primary arc will focus on Barry coming to terms with his past and making his own future. This very emotional spectrum can weigh heavy in the hearts of Barry Allen’s fans. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Flash has added Spanish actor Maribel Verdú — known for her role as Mercedes in Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth — as Barry Allen’s mother, Nora Allen. We can surely believe that The Flash will have serious flashbacks into Barry’s childhood.

This particular alteration of Flash’s speed color from blue to yellow can also indicate that Barry is getting incredibly powerful. This power-up can be constituted in the new movie very easily. Barry’s speed color is yellow in the comics, it is logical for The Flash movie to induce it as his franchise is getting established from here on now.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash movie is said to take inspiration from the DC Comics story Flashpoint. This is of note, as Flashpoint revolves around Barry traveling back in time to save his mother, inadvertently creating a new reality where the world is on the brink of total destruction. Barry’s actions set the stage for DC’s New 52 relaunch in 2011. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, and Maribel Verdú. The film arrives in theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
