8 Shady Deaths In The MCU That We Haven’t Believed To Be True

In fictional movies, unless a character death happens right in front of us, we aren’t supposed to believe it. But superhero movies take this notion to an entirely different level. They might kill off a character in front of us, but they still find ways to bring back the same version of that character back. Nick Fury died in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but he came back as soon as the third Act of the movie. Bucky himself was presumed to be dead in Captain America: The First Avenger, but then he came back strongly in the sequel. Marvel did the same with Phil Coulson, but his case is a little different as it happened in an alternate universe. But, the point we’re making is that some deaths in the MCU seem permanent. And then there are other characters whose deaths haven’t felt a 100% believable. Here’s a list of all those shady deaths of the characters:

Red Skull

Avengers: Endgame Infinity Stones MCU

In Captain America: The First Avenger, Red Skull opened a portal in space and vanished. We didn’t believe that he was dead, but we weren’t sure when exactly he was going to return. Then, he totally surprised us in Avengers: Infinity War, and also appeared in Avengers: Endgame. Now, we’re not ready to believe that he is done with the MCU. He might find a way to make a surprising return once more. Could be in Captain America 4?

Ultron

Vision was the one to kill the last Ultron bot. But we only saw a distant shot which implied that Vision killed Ultron. It could be possible that instead of killing the murder bot, Vision actually absorbed the last bit of Ultron within himself. Or even if Vision did kill Ultron, we’re aware that his core was already present in Vision’s matrix. After all, Ultron was trying to upload himself into Vision’s cerebral matrix. So, Ultron could have been living like a virus since then. This virus could be in the servers of all computers at Avengers HQ. What’s worse is that Ultron could now have a presence in Wakandan computer servers as well. So, he is a villain who could definitely return by the end of WandaVision.

Killmonger

Okay yes, Killmonger is probably dead. His wish was for T’Challa to let him die. But right when he was about to fall, we got a wide-angle shot. We never saw his body after that. So, what if T’Challa had put him in a cryo-sleep chamber believing that his cousin needed a second chance? That way, Killmonger could still be alive within the MCU. Michael B. Jordan did amazingly well as Killmonger. He was one of the main reasons of Black Panther’s success. So, Disney might actually be enticed to bring him back. But yes, we shouldn’t bet our money upon it.

Yellowjacket

Shady Deaths In The MCU

We saw Yellowjacket shrink down into nothingness. But again, we never saw him die. For all we know, he could still be in the Quantum Realm waiting for his chance to return. Ant-Man and the Wasp is proof that the Quantum Realm even helps to heal people. And the movie also showed us a city existing within the Quantum Realm. This city is believed to be Kang’s city of Cronopolis. So, what if Darren Cross joined forces with Kang? That way, he could return in Ant-Man and the Wasp 3.

Loki

Shady Deaths In The MCU

Loki has died enough times for him to be on this list. The first Thor movie seemingly killed him, then brought him back by the post credits scene. The second one showed his death, then brought him back, again! Even when he died for real in Avengers: Infinity War, people weren’t ready to believe it. And then, Endgame brought him back again, but it is different this time as Loki is alive in a new timeline.

Minn-Erva

Gemma Chan’s Kree, Minn-Erva operative seemingly died in a plane explosion. But again it was a wide angle shot with no dead body. Minn-Erva is from the Kree world Hala. She is an Alien. What if she endured the blast & has been hiding on Earth ever since? She could show up in the SWORD series where the Secret Invasion plot will be explored.

Mysterio

Shady Deaths In The MCU

Mysterio’s death was the biggest cover up ever! Quentin Beck not only made Peter believe that he died, but also the general audience. There’s enough evidence to state that he’s still alive. Furthermore, Mysterio is too big of a character to be killed off with just 1 movie. He will surely return in Spider-Man 3 and/or 4. After all, he has to join the Sinister Six as well.

Vision

Shady Deaths In The MCU

Vision’s death took place twice in front of our eyes. But we didn’t believe that he died for real because Infinity War teased that he could still survive without the Mind Stone. Soon after Endgame, it was revealed that a WandaVision series will happen on Disney+. We saw this Vision becoming White Vision.

Honorable Mention – The Snap victims

Towards the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos snapped his fingers and killed half of all living beings. Spider-Man, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Wanda, Peter Quill, Doctor Strange, Mantis, Drax, Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, Black Panther, Shuri and many others were snapped out of existence. Marvel played it as if all those characters had died, but in no way did we believe that the snap was permanent. That’s because Marvel had already revealed that they had plans for more Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange & Guardians movies. So, those characters were always going to return. Even though the snap was always going to be undone, it’s good that Marvel at least made its impact last for 5 years within the MCU. That gave a lot of weight to the snap. We have already seen the impact in Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
