5 Marvel Characters We Need to See in The Movies

Now that Marvel is entering a new stage where half the cast has already been wiped off the board after the events of Infinity War, it’s time to turn to other Marvel characters in their roster we wouldn’t mind seeing. You can play Marvel themed slot games over at Umbingo.

Most casual Marvel fans will know of the usual crowd of Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and the crew, but there’s a whole Saturday morning cartoon cavalcade of characters just waiting in the wings. So, we’ve picked out some of our more ‘interesting’ characters that we would love to see standing on their own in a future movie at some point.

Ant-Man X Ultron

Coinciding with the release of the second Antman film in theatres, this is probably one character we will never see but would absolutely love if we did. For those that don’t know, in the current run of Marvel comics, Antman has been fused with Ultron in an unholy abomination of steel and flesh that explores the galaxy causing all sorts of havoc.

Where it gets interesting is the dynamic between the two personalities in the character of Hank Pymm and Ultron as neither has full control of the body they share. Although Ultron does eventually trap Hanks soul inside the Soul Gem alongside countless others, it’s a body horror cyborg that would be amazing to see on the big screen.

M.O.D.O.K

The shortened version of ‘Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing’, M.O.D.O.K is the penultimate joke character of the Marvel franchise. He’s basically a gigantic head on a tiny frail man body that floats around in a chair that’s bursting at the seams with advanced technology and gadgetry that constantly causes the Avengers all sorts of grief.

He has a genius level intellect too that often runs rings around Tony Stark with zero effort. Basically, imagine being able to play a game of bingo on Umbingo whilst doing a crossword and a Sudoku puzzle at the same time. He’s a mechanized multi-tasking menace!

M.O.D.O.K would be the perfect interim villain to appear in the Marvel movies because of how hysterical yet utterly terrifying he is. Imagine a gigantic floating head coming towards you on a golden robot chair, now picture him explaining in minute detail about the way he’s going to kill you and your friends, how is that not frightening?

It was rumored for the longest time that we would see Peter Dinklage take on the metal mantle of M.O.D.O.K, but he instead popped by in Infinity War as a Dwarf. But, on the flipside having no appearance of M.O.D.O.K yet means we could see him thwart future Avengers plans, we can only cross our fingers under our equally bulbous heads.

Maggot

Maggot is another one of those characters that you need to see to believe, he’s just so utterly insane that you need to question the mind of the person who created him. For those that don’t know this rather interesting chap Maggot, whose real name is Japheth, is a South African mutant that appeared one day and who’s abilities rely on two gigantic maggots that live inside him.

Because instead of a normal digestive system Maggot has a gaping cavity two gigantic maggots called Eany and Meany live in. Instead of paying rent for their space, these two creatures can eat through any substance known to man at super speeds. This is thanks to an incredibly powerful enzyme they produce that breaks down matter and then feeds it directly to Maggot.

One of the cool things about this is that after he’s fed, he can then use the nutrients to alter his body to make him bigger, stronger and sturdier. Plus, his eyes turn red and his body takes on a cool blue color that’s similar to Eany and Meany.

Although he rarely appears in the comics, he’s a really deep and interesting character that steals the show whenever he pops up. So, if Black Panther can get a movie, who’s to say we can’t see Maggot on the silver screen one day?

Super Skrull

The Fantastic Four is one franchise that always seems to fall flat on its face at the first hurdle. We’ve had four movies and they’ve yet to get the formula right, in fact, they probably never will. So, why not do some justice to the Fantastic Four by combining all their powers into one supervillain and giving him his own movie to decimate the current Marvel cast in.

Captain Marvel Star Ben Mendelsohn

Super Skrull is almost iconic at this point and for him to not appear even in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie would be a travesty.

But, for those that don’t know Super Skrull is a member of a shapeshifting alien race known as the Skrulls that have plagued the Avengers for years. The titular Skrull though has managed to get his hands on the powers of the Fantastic Four and oh boy is this super bad. He uses the combined abilities of all four heroes to introduce anyone he meets into the nearest pavement, building or wall in the most lethal way possible and naturally everyone is against this.

He’s a genuine force to be reckoned with and having that kind of cannon as a threat in a future film would be incredibly popular with fans. He’s just a classic mix of Marvel’s approach to character design where they go: “Ok, but what if -Blank-, managed to get these powers.”

Sometimes it doesn’t work, but occasionally we get blessed with the treasure that is Super Skrull

The Verdict

The best thing about Marvel is that they have some truly insane characters to choose from. There’s always some Z-tier villain or hero readily available to make an appearance in an issue, so the studio heads pretty much have their work done for them.

But, whether we get even a hint of these characters appearing is something we can only dream of for now, until then we just have to enjoy what we have.
