13 Missing Characters Who Could Return & Totally Change The MCU

Marvel is bringing some major characters back into the mix. There are many who have been confirmed to return. Jane Foster, Baron Mordo, Lady Sif, Emil Blonsky and Adrian Toomes are among those. But there are 13 other important characters who have been missing for a while. They could just return out of nowhere and change things around for good. So, here are those 13 people who aren’t confirmed to return, but will likely be back anyway.

Ghost

Ant-Man and the Wasp left the fate of Ghost dangling. Scott Lang was trying to collect Quantum Energy that would help in stabilizing her. But he ended up 5 years in the future. So, how has Ghost been surviving all this time? Where has she been? She will certainly return to answer these questions. Rumors suggest that she’d be back in the Thunderbolts project as a part of the villains’ team. But, don’t be surprised if you see her in some other project before that.

Dr. Erik Selvig

Erik Selvig has been missing since Age of Ultron, but we did see his image in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now that SWORD is going to deal with a bunch of cosmic elements, Erik Selvig could surely return in Captain Marvel 2, or the Secret Invasion series on Disney+. He could prove to be vital for these projects.

Dr. Helen Cho

Helen Cho played an important role in Avengers: Age of Ultron as she helped in creating Vision’s synthetic Vibranium body. She could have been of use in WandaVision. But most importantly, we could see Amadeus Cho’s version of Hulk through Helen’s return.

The Collector & Grandmaster

Avengers: Endgame Wong

The Collector seemingly died in Avengers: Infinity War. But, we were never shown his body. So, there’s a major possibility that he will make a comeback. After all, we have to see a reunion between the two Elders, Taneleer Tivan and the Grandmasters. The Grandmaster has also been missing since Ragnarok. So, let’s hope that two will be back in Love & Thunder for a bigger role.

Justin Hammer

Justin Hammer was imprisoned in Iron Man 2, but then he returned to Marvel’s One-shot movie, All Hail The King. Now, he could return in Armor Wars or even become the tech guy for the Thunderbolts team.

Arnim Zola

Zola surprisingly returned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He was probably blown up into nothingness. But then, he was placed in the 1970s sequence of Avengers: Endgame. That seemingly happened as a reminder, so he could once again surprise us in the future. We might finally see him
in his comic accurate robot body if he returns in Captain America 4.

The Red Skull

MCU Marvel Comics

Captain America 4 just got announced and we don’t know who the villain is. But it is possible that Red Skull might return by the end of it. In hindsight, he has only been missing for the past 3 MCU projects. But as far as MCU’s Earth is concerned, Red Skull has been missing for decades. So, he could totally return and make Sam Wilson’s Captain America fight the new Hydra.

Hela

You may not know, but Hela totally survived Surtur’s strike. If you watch the scene in slow-mo, you’ll notice that she created a green portal & escaped. So, we could expect her to return in Thor: Love and Thunder or Thor 5.

Dormammu

Major MCU Villain

Doctor Strange was able to bend Dormammu to his will by using the time stone. But the time stone only exists in the form of an atom now. So, once Dormammu finds out about that, Doctor Strange can’t really do a whole lot to stop him. It would be interesting to see if Marvel ever brings him back.

Ultron

Doctor Doom & Adam Warlock Series Disney+

Ultron is a villain who keeps returning in the comics. Coming back from the dead is his thing and he has never been a one-and-done villain. So, he has to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in time. We saw a little tease of him in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And now, he could totally surprise everyone if he suddenly returns with White Vision.

Samuel Sterns

MCU Phase 4 Suicide Squad Thunderbolts

Samuel Sterns has been hiding with his swollen head ever since The Incredible Hulk. But the rumors have suggested that he could be the villain of the Thunderbolts series. So, we might see him return and take his place as The Leader in the MCU.

Betty Ross

Like Sterns and Blonsky, Betty Ross has also been missing for over a dozen years. Now that Natasha is no more, Betty could return to Bruce’s life once again. Her return to She-Hulk could reignite their love for each other. Let’s see if & when all these characters end up making their welcomed return.
