Dragon Ball: Mastering Old Forms Can Make Newer Forms More Powerful & Create New Transformations

Dragon Ball has always mesmerized us with its evolving storylines and characters. It’s easily one of the most famous animes and continues to be one. Dragon Ball characters, such as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, etc., are all a part of the Saiyan race. Their energy is called ki, and they get powerful by driving that ki further and beyond. Goku first made the legendary transformation into the mythical Super Saiyan that was only talked about but never seen. This happened whilst his fight with Frieza. Since then, Goku and the other Z-fighters have pushed their limits and given us various forms. These include forms such as – Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan God, and the ultimate god form, Ultra Instinct.

Dragon Ball Z Wasted Super Saiyan 3

A Saiyan changes its forms when they release enormous amounts of ki, and this, in turn, changes their appearance and makes them much more powerful. Now the real question arises. What if Goku masters his Super Saiyan 3 form? What will it lead to? Could it make the newer forms, such as Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan God, and Ultra Instinct more powerful? Let’s take a look into it.

Goku has always pushed his limits and has finally reached the god level, called the Ultra Instinct. On the other hand, Vegeta also pushed himself during the Tournament of Power. His usual Super Saiyan Blue broke the limits, and his aura changed to more of a darker blue. But Vegeta was never seen using the Super Saiyan 3 form. Neither was he seen transforming into Super Saiyan God, only until recently.

Why Vegeta’s Redemption Journey Makes Him Greatest Anti-Hero

If a Saiyan masters one form, then it surely leads to a powerful future form and perfects the previous forms as well. Let’s take our steps back to the Cell Games. By mastering a form’s stability, a Saiyan can increase their maximum potential in that form while also improving the power of later forms. Gohan stopped training after the Cell Saga and thus, even at Super Saiyan 2, he was significantly weaker than he was after spending all that time training with Goku leading up to the Cell Games. This indicates that sustained training at the Super Saiyan level would make it so the user can control ki better and increase their power in later and stronger forms. If Gohan would’ve continued training, and perfected Super Saiyan 2, then his future form called the “Ultimate form” would have been much stronger than it was.

The reason why Goku and Vegeta reached Super Saiyan Blue is that they had mastered their previous forms. But Goku had never perfected Super Saiyan 3. But all the previous forms were perfected. As a result, when they both reached Super Saiyan God and Blue, their previous forms were significantly improved. if you remember, when Goku was sparring with Zamasu, he admitted that Goku was a mortal, and he couldn’t believe that he could harness such amazing power. Mind you, Goku was in his base form still!

If Goku masters Super Saiyan 3, then it would definitely leave a whole room for new forms and transformations. If Goku was to ever master his Super Saiyan 3 form, it would leave room for his new forms. Goku has always been seen using nonlinear forms, such as Super Saiyan Blue Kaoi-Ken. If Goku masters his 3rd level of Super Saiyan, then his Ultra Instinct form would also become better. The Saiyan warriors are all about channeling and controlling their ki. If Goku was to master a level where he is not able to properly control his Ki, Goku can definitely increase his powers in the Super Saiyan Blue form.

Another possibility is that Super Saiyan 3 might just become Super Saiyan standard with the power multiplier. Akira Toriyama has speculated that should Goku totally master Super Saiyan 3, that form’s physical features would disappear — allowing Goku to gain the power, control, and appearance of standard Super Saiyan with the power multiplier of Super Saiyan 3. This would allow him to progress back up to Super Saiyan 3’s forced power control, creating a cycle where Goku can increase in power over and over again as well as increasing his ki Control. Hence, Super Saiyan 3 could be the go-to-base for Goku, whenever he wants to transform initially and not directly go to Super Saiyan blue.

Goku Shot One Punch Man

Goku utilizes Super Saiyan 3 by forcing more ki through his system than he can initially handle, causing him to burn through the power and go into hyperdrive. If they can better control their ki, then all their forms, new or old, will directly be affected in terms of powers and maybe even appearances. Goku needs to master his Super Saiyan 3 form, and anyway, the Dragon Ball fans have not got enough of the transformation!
