Godzilla vs. Kong Toy Shows Hell Hawk’s First Look

Godzilla vs. Kong’s trailer made some impressive rounds with the epic CGI, and the two Titans going face to face. There were some amazing moments in the trailer, such as – Kong displays typical gorilla behavior in issuing a challenge to Godzilla, attempting to assert his dominance. Godzilla, for his part, responds in kind – almost upending the aircraft carrier, and causing even Kong to flinch back in shock. The ax that we mentioned earlier is seen again, as Kong uses it in his battle against Godzilla, and it is noticeably seen that the ax is able to absorb Godzilla’s atomic breath. Until Kong is once again armed with the ax made from Godzilla’s dorsal plate.

Leaked images for a Godzilla vs. Kong tie-in toy have revealed a new MonsterVerse titan – a winged kaiju called Hell Hawk. As the highly anticipated showdown between cinema’s two most famous monsters approaches, fans have wondered what other creatures could appear alongside them. Now it seems that a brand new titanic beast is entering the fray. 2014’s Godzilla brought the eponymous nuclear lizard back to the big screen while also adding the MUTOs, and Kong: Skull Island brought back King Kong and introduced the Skullcrawlers. Then Godzilla: King of the Monsters introduced a slew of new faces, from familiar kaiju like Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah to original monsters like Leviathan, Abaddon, and Baphomet. Godzilla vs. Kong has already revealed one new addition in the winged Warbat, and now another flying titan is jumping into battle.

Godzilla vs. Kong Toy Shows Hell Hawk's First Look

Images of a tie-in toy for Godzilla vs. Kong, posted by Kaijuologist on Twitter, reveal the MonsterVerse’s latest addition – a gargoyle-like monster called Hell Hawk. The figure has a frightening, demonic form, with bat-like wings spread on two outstretched skeletal arms. The new kaiju certainly takes design inspiration from classic European gargoyles, and while the toy only gives an approximation of what Hell Hawk will look like on-screen, it should be enough to get fans excited. How and when Hell Hawk will enter the story of Godzilla vs. Kong remains to be seen. Check the images here:

The problem is that after Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, Ghidorah and Kong, any other monster will feel lackluster by comparison. Bringing in Gamera would be a fun move that some kaiju fans have called for, but even he doesn’t hold the cultural weight that the MonsterVerse’s current creatures do. A less likely but incredibly exciting possibility is that the MonsterVerse could finally cross over with Pacific Rim, bringing some version of the Godzilla/Gypsy Danger battle many fans have wanted for years. That would necessitate some multiverse business or trans-dimensional travel, making it highly unlikely, but it would certainly be a crowd-pleaser.
