8 MCU Characters That Skrulls Could Have Shape-Shifted Into

Now that the first three phases of MCU are over, fans are speculating the next challenge in the franchise. The shocking post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home indicates that Marvel has moved on from Thanos and Infinity War storyline to unfold the adventures of “Secret Invasion”. This issue is based on the alien race of shape-shifting Skrulls who have secretly been living on Earth since God knows when. They were introduced in the MCU in “Captain Marvel” which was set in the ‘90s.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Villains

The movie version of Skrulls turned out to be the good guys, unlike their comic book counterparts. Additionally from what we discovered in Spider-Man 2, Nick Fury and the Skrulls have been working together for a long time. Revealing that Nick Fury and Maria Hill in the movie were impersonated by the shape-shifting Skrulls indicates a colossal mystery of MCU that we may not have known yet. Could the other Marvel characters also be Skrull imposters?  We have listed 8 MCU heroes and villains that the Skrulls could have shape-shifted into.

 1. Sharon Carter

What if Sharon Carter was keeping tabs on Captain America on behalf of Skrulls, not SHIELD? Her discreet yet agreeable nature and her capability to easily woo Steve Rogers leave a red flag. She could have also been the mastermind and perpetrator behind the events of the Civil War and Project Insight.

 2. Hawkeye

Several fans believe that Clint Barton and his entire family are Skrulls who live far away from the crowd. MCU hasn’t dug into Clint’s past at all. While we have learnt about some of the Avengers’ backstory and their evolution into heroes, there was nothing on Clint. He just happened to be there from the beginning.

 3. Sam Wilson

Replacing an existing Avenger with an imposter can be pretty tough and grueling. In order to avoid getting caught easily, Skrulls could have infiltrated the team with a new member, Falcon aka Sam Wilson. He doesn’t have any superhuman powers that would be tough to replicate and no one knows much about his past. Skrull-Sam could be whoever he wants to be without raising any eyebrows.

 4. Black Widow

Marvel Didn’t Give Super Powers to Black Widow

When it comes to wearing disguises and invading other organizations as a double agent, we can’t think of anyone but Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff. Her secretive past and thoughts along with her ease to wear someone else’s face in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” makes her a top suspect.

 5. Mantis

The biggest hurdle to any planned secret invasion could be the group of heroes protecting the galaxy. We are talking about the goofy but brave ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. No wonder that the Skrulls would have attempted to infiltrate the team to stay updated with their biggest threats. The most dubious member seems to be Mantis. We know nothing about her past and her upbringing by Ego, the Living Planet doesn’t match with her comic book routes.

 6. Bruce Banner

The surprising transformation of the calm but angry Bruce Banner and the “always-angry” Hulk into a witty and chilled out Hulk seems too good to be true. Don’t know about the Avengers but a lot of fans doubt that this is an imposter who was surprisingly funny and coincidentally couldn’t turn into Hulk in Avengers: Infinity War. What if the real Bruce Banner was kidnapped by the Skrulls after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron?

 7. General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross

Reveals More Snap

General Ross’ persistent attempts to impede or remove the superheroes from power seem to have a clear agenda. A plan for Secret Invasion would definitely involve infiltrating the government and replacing one of the top influencers for control. Stopping the Hulk and tying up the Avengers’ hands should be the Skrull’s top priorities.

 8. War Machine

War Machine aka James Rhodes doesn’t seem to have a life outside the Avengers. He is always working and positioned to join a battle. This also brings us to one of the main factors- Rhodes’ love life. The fact that he has never had or been attracted to anyone in the MCU could be a result of alien nature. But the biggest question of all that raised a lot of eyebrows was- how did War Machine survive the great fall during the Civil War? No human could have survived or recovered from that fall that easily. Only his Skrull genes could recover him that fast and prepare him to join the Infinity War.
