Doctor Strange 2 is going under production next month. Details are currently being kept under wraps, but we do know about a few characters that are going to appear in the film. Besides Doctor Strange, Wong, Baron Mordo, and Scarlet Witch, the likes of Clea, Brother Voodoo, and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) are going to be in the Multiverse of Madness. But apart from this, there’s really not a lot that is known to the general audience. Although, we’ve got a plot leak which is probably the best of these leaks that we’ve had in recent times.
Potential Spoilers for Doctor Strange 2 could follow. So, proceed if you want to know.
4Chan is not a safe site, and people should stop visiting it. The stuff on 4Chan usually ends up getting posted on Reddit, so you could look for those posts instead. It’s a safe way of procuring certain movie scoops which might just come true. Reddit user Tales_of_the_Trivial has brought forward a new Doctor Strange 2 leak, which was initially posted on 4Chan. We have to say that it seems quite legit. Take a look:
Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Mordo, Wong and the Ancient One return. The new characters are Clea, Jericho Drumm, America Chavez, Cagliostro, Nightmare and Shuma-Gorath.
>Shuma-Gorath is an ancient entity that feeds off people’s fear and wants to use America Chavez, a young girl who can create portals between universes, as a vessel to spread madness and consume the Multiverse. Nightmare is Shuma-Gorath’s shapeshifting, mindbending enforcer who is sent to capture America.
Doctor Strange and Wong rescue America and assemble a team to protect her, formed by Scarlet Witch, Mordo, Clea and Drumm. Scarlet Witch is learning how to control her powers with Strange. Clea is the Ancient One’s estranged daughter born with a connection to the Dark Dimension. Drumm is a powerful voodoo witch doctor and former student at Kamar-Taj.
>Strange’s plan is to contact the spirit of Cagliostro, the sorcerer who originally defeated Shuma-Gorath, and learn how to reproduce his ritual. Mordo decides that Strange’s plan is too dangerous, goes rogue and sets out to kill America before Shuma-Gorath can get to her.
The final battle happens in Shuma-Gorath’s realm of dead universes populated by physical manifestations of people’s worst fears and nightmares.
>Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong and Tilda Swinton are returning. Xochitl Gomez is cast as America Chavez and Daveed Diggs is cast as Jericho Drumm. Bruce Campbell will play Doctor Druid, the sorcerer supreme of a parallel universe, in a small comedic role.
Jeremy Irons has been approached for Cagliostro. Charlize Theron passed on Clea, so Vanessa Kirby and Jodie Comer are the current frontrunners for Clea. Nicholas Hoult is in early talks for Nightmare after Adam Driver turned it down.
In the past, 4Chan has had a few leaks which were similar to the plots of the actual film. That’s what seems to be the case with this leak. It has surfaced very close to Doctor Strange 2’s production date. So, there might be a certain accuracy to it. Anyway, this plot sounds similar to three movies of the past. The first similarity could obviously be drawn from the Doctor Strange itself. Marvel has repeated formulas of their films in the past. So, it wouldn’t come as a big surprise if they do that again.
In the first Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange and his team of Sorcerers fought against Kaecilius, who was the follower of Dormammu. Strange ultimately stopped Dormammu in the Dark Dimension, because the big villain wanted to consume Earth. This time around, he and his team (which includes Wanda as well) will take on Nightmare, who is the enforcer of the big floating-eye villain, Shuma-Gorath. Again, if the aforementioned plot leak is correct, then the final battle will happen in the scary realm of Shuma-Gorath. But this time, Shuma-Gorath wants to consume the entire Multiverse and spread total madness in it, instead of Dormammu’s going after just Earth.
An addition to the story would be the future Young Avenger, America Chavez. This addition is what brings out similarities from two other stories. It seems that Doctor Strange 2 will be a mystical version of the Birds of Prey, which will see a team of Sorcerers protecting a young hero. And the other element of similarity comes from Fox’s first X-Men movie where Magneto wanted to use Rogue for his expansion plan. Wolverine and the X-Men prevented him from doing so. In the same way, Shuma-Gorath wants to use Miss America for his expansion plans, but Doctor Strange and the other sorcerers will prevent her. It’s just that the scale of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is much bigger than what was in Birds of Prey, X-Men, and the first Doctor Strange movie.
All in all, this leak sounds exactly like what Kevin Feige had described Doctor Strange 2 to be. He said that this will not be a horror movie. It will be a film with scary sequences. And that’s what this leak suggests. Also, what’s fascinating about the plot leak is its casting revelations. Daveed Diggs would be perfect as Brother Voodoo. Jeremy Irons as Cagliostro, Nicolas Hault as Nightmare, and Jodie Comer as Clea would all be super amazing! But, because of the plot similarities that I’ve pointed out, there is a chance that this leak might not be true. So, take it as a grain of salt. But then again, what else will be left to do, if not this? Things about this leak make perfect sense. So, it will be interesting to see if all this turns out.
