New Marvel Characters Important After Phase 4 & 5:
The MCU is going to pick up its pace in the next two Phases. The Universe will now expand into the Multiverse. Several new characters will be added into the mix starting from 2021, and they will all become extremely crucial to the story that Marvel wants to tell. Keep in mind that the Fantastic Four & the mutants have not been added to this list because so far, we’ve no official word on their immediate arrival. Kevin Feige only said that they are coming. But their arrival will take time. As for the others on the following list, we’ve had confirmations and major evidence for their quick entry. In fact, by 2022, we will have seen all of them make their MCU debut. Here are those characters:
Eternals & Black Knight
The Eternals as a bunch of immortals who are going to become really important to the story of the MCU moving forward. They will tell us the rich history of the MCU while interacting with the present. So, we should look out for the Eternals as a group. In fact, along with the Eternals, Marvel is also introducing Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman aka Black Knight. He’d be extremely important because, after Eternals, he could be a member of teams like the Avengers, Excalibur or Mi-13.
Shang-Chi will make his debut next year when he takes on The Mandarin. We will finally get to see the Asian side of things in great detail after Doctor Strange only gave us a little tease. Shang-Chi will become another potential contender for the Avengers. And not just that, he can be the one who will later bring in a character like the Iron Fist.
Ms. Marvel is getting her own series on Disney+. The comics, the Avengers Assemble animated series and Marvel’s Avengers game have really generated a lot of hype for her arrival. After her solo series, she could have possible appearances in Captain Marvel 2, Young Avengers and/or Avengers 5. Since she is an inhuman, she could be the one to introduce us to the likes of Black Bolt, Medusa and all other Inhumans. So, she is more important than you may have thought.
Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters will arrive in her own Disney+ series. She might start to carry the mantle of the Hulk in the future. And who knows, she may actually begin to represent a separate female Avengers team. Joining her could be the likes of Valkyrie, Jane Foster, Ms. Marvel, The Wasp, Spectrum, Scarlet Witch and obviously Captain Marvel.
Moon Knight will be one of the most unique characters the MCU has ever seen. Marc Spector will be someone with a split personality disorder. Also, rumors have suggested that his series will introduce us to Mahershala Ali’s Blade.
Mahershala Ali’s Blade will be given more importance than we could think of. He could join Black Knight for Mi-13, or he could be a new Avenger. But most importantly, he & Moon Knight should team up with Ghost Rider. Together these three will take on the horrific supernatural threats in the MCU. Doctor Strange could give them a start.
The major evidence behind the arrival of Ghost Rider is the cancellation of his upcoming series on Hulu. Marvel clearly wants to do something with him and rumors have suggested that he could arrive in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He, Blade, Moon Knight and some others could become a part of the Midnight Sons.
Namor the Submariner
It is almost confirmed that Namor will come in as a villain in Black Panther 2. But from there on, he’d turn into an Anti-Hero. Being the king of Atlantis and because of his Mutant heritage, he would become extremely important for the MCU. Moreover, we see him as a potential member of the Illuminati.
Nova is a high priority character for Marvel Studios right now. He is heavily rumored to arrive in Captain Marvel 2. After that, he could get solo movies of his own, and he could join in on all other cosmic adventures of the MCU.
Captain Britain was teased in Avengers: Endgame. Marvel will introduce him very soon. A couple years ago, we got a rumor that he will team up with Black Knight in a trilogy. But His real importance comes with his multiverse connections. Marvel is looking to expand on the multiverse front, and that’s where Captain Britain could bring in the Captain Britain Crops.
Honorable Mention – Young Avengers
The Young Avengers are going to arrive in the MCU sooner than anyone thinks. In fact, almost every Phase 4 & Phase 5 project is going to introduce a Young Avengers member. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could bring in Elijah ‘Eli’ Bradley, aka Patriot. WandaVision will introduce Wiccan, Speed & even Hulkling. Hawkeye will bring in Kate Bishop. Doctor Strange 2 will give us the debut of the multiverse hopping America Chavez aka Miss America. And finally, Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 will introduce us to the superhero persona of Cassie Lang. She could take on the title of “Stinger” or “Stature” from the comics. After their separate introductions, they could Assemble in a Disney+ TV show of their own.
Other characters who we think will be important in the future are Wolverine, Deadpool, Silver Surfer, the Fantastic Four, the Inhumans, Defenders & X-Men. But they are all a little far from their MCU introduction. So let’s see when they will end up making their eventual MCU appearances.
