Wonder Woman 1984 Villain New Footage :
Wonder Woman 1984 has got The New Mutants treatment of being delayed 3 or more times. Because of its delays, WB has been very slow with the marketing of the film. Just recently, they released a junior Novel for Wonder Woman 1984, which revealed a bunch of new details from the film. We’re certain that the upcoming trailer of the Wonder Woman sequel will focus on these details. This new trailer would definitely arrive at the DC FanDome event on August 22, if not before. Anyway, we know that the trailer is ready because we’ve got this new footage of Barbara Minerva right before she turns into Cheetah. This footage has to be a part of the upcoming trailer. Watch it right here:
It’s funny that we’ve come so close to the movie and we still haven’t seen how Cheetah really looks in live action. We’ve seen a few concept arts & low res photos, but that’s it. The upcoming trailer will definitely give us our very first look at Kristen Wiig’s portrayal of the “Apex Predator.” But in the meanwhile let’s take a look at how Barbara Minerva will turn into Cheetah.
The following information was revealed by Wonder Woman 1984: The Junior Novel. But if you wish to go completely blind into this film, then I’d suggest that you shouldn’t read the rest of the article. Consider this as an obligatory Spoiler Warning!
Apparently, the Dreamstone will be the major McGuffin around which the entire story of Wonder Woman 1984 will revolve. This ancient artifact was created by the God of Lies. Its major ability is that it can fulfill any wishes that people would make. But those wishes will come with a cost. The Dreamstone will become the entire reason of chaos in the upcoming movie. Its effects will be first revealed when someone would wish for a coffee and in the very next moment, a man who was passing by will suddenly appear with a coffee. But the cost of this coffee will be that the one who wished for it will be burnt by it.
What’s crazy is that Steve Trevor’s return will be tied to the Dreamstone. Diana will wish for Steve’s return in the presence of the artifact, and it’ll happen. As for Barbara Minerva, her villainous persona will also be tied with the wish granting stone.
To begin proceedings, we’d see Barbara as an Archaeologist who has no self-confidence. She’d be working in the Smithsonian museum where Diana also works. When she comes across Diana, she’d admire her. Diana would really become her idol, her role model. So, she’d want to be like her in every sense. Just like Diana will wish for Steve Trevor, Barbara would wish to become pretty, bold and confident like her idol, in the presence of the Dreamstone.
Her wish will come true. But she’s unaware of the fact that Diana is actually Wonder Woman. So, her wish won’t just make her confident, but it will also give her superpowers. And it’s sort of obvious that these powers will come with a curse. This curse will be that she’d become a savage animal, the Cheetah. Unlike others, she’d take a liking to this curse (as we saw in the above footage), she’d want to become the Apex Predator. Her motivation would be to stop Diana from destroying the Dreamstone so her powers don’t disappear. That is why she will team up with Maxwell Lord.
Wonder Woman will don her Golden Eagle armor to take on Cheetah. So really, Cheetah is a villain to be feared. After all, she’d prove to be as strong as Wonder Woman, if not stronger. Let’s see how Wonder Woman will manage to stop the threat of Cheetah & Maxwell Lord.
Wonder Woman 1984 arrives on October 2. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the movie stars Gal Gadot as the titular character, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.
