Eternals Theory – Deviants Were Secretly Introduced By Captain Marvel

The Eternals is going to be a very important franchise for the MCU as it will dive into the rich history of this fictitious universe that people aren’t aware of. This history involves Celestials, Eternals & Deviants. Through Eternals, we might also find out about MCU’s mutants and Atlanteans, but we’ll get to that later. For now, let’s just focus on the Deviants.

The Celestials created Eternals & Deviants throughout the Universe. That is how The Eternals will lead us to a very cosmic future. So far, we’ve only had a few Easter Eggs pointing towards the upcoming ensemble film. But, there’s one element, one potential piece of connection that a lot of people are not looking at. That element is none other than the Skrulls.

We know that the Celestials experimented upon the humans to create The Eternals. In the process, they also ended up creating hideous looking offshoots called Deviants. While the Eternals turned out to be a perfect creation, the Deviants ended up with an unstable genetic code, which constantly caused them to mutate. Hence, their appearance has always been monstrous. Thanos has a Deviant syndrome in his genes, and that’s why he looks so different & beastly compared to the rest of the Eternals.

Another species of Deviants that the Celestials ended up creating in the comics were the Skrulls. Not only do the Deviants exist on Earth, but the Skrulls are also Deviants. The Celestials went on a planet and experimented with its population using DNA that they collected from other planets. The result of those experiments were more Eternals & Skrulls (Deviants). Ultimately, the Skrulls ended up killing The Eternals of that planet along with the reptilian population that existed on the planet before the arrival of Celestials. They took the planet for themselves.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Villains

Even though the MCU, has proven that Skrulls are good in the MCU, Kevin Feige has suggested that bad Skrulls might also exist somewhere in the universe. So, it is believable that the ancestors of Talos & other Skrulls may have killed the population of the planet on which they were created. This is a connection that the Eternals movie could establish as it will help people like us relate better with The Eternals & the Deviants. So, bottom line – We’ve already seen a species of Deviants in not one, but 2 MCU movies.

A while back, Marvel scooper Roger Wardell stated that “The Changing People” called the Deviants will play a crucial role. Their backstory is a bit altered and their appearance will surprise many. This brings us to a second theory that the Earth based Deviants are actually going to be mutants themselves. “Their unstable mutating genetic code is what may have turned them into mutants in the present day. Over the years, The Eternals were able to hide in plain sight on Earth because their appearances were indistinguishable from the humans. As for the Deviants, they had to remain in hiding because they couldn’t blend in.

But in the last few centuries, they just might have been able to blend in as many of them could have turned more human-like. The unstable genetic code might actually be the X-Gene which allowed them to evolve over time. And some of the deviants may have even mated with humans to create more human-looking deviants/mutants. As of now, mutants like Mystique, and many others might look different due to the fact that their ancestors were pure deviants. This could allow the mutants to exist in the MCU for years & years, and it could even tie in with the story of Apocalypse. All in support of the theory write “Yay” in the comments. All those who’re not in support, well never mind. Let’s see how the Deviants might play an important role in the MCU.
