Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Josh Brolin Playing Thanos and Cable!

The actor Josh Brolin is on cloud nine these days as he is not only getting a shot at playing Marvel super-villain Thanos but recently the news broke that he is also playing Cable in Deadpool 2. In comics, Cable is the time-traveling son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey) who was trained to be the warrior in the future, who return as an older man in the present. He has telepathic and telekinetic powers.

The Marvel president Kevin Feige in an interview with Collider said that “the Mad Titan was almost… the main character in the film, so Brolin will have had a lot of time to explore Thanos’s character. It’s clearly been a tremendous experience, uniting Brolin with a staggering cast”.

He added that it was “one of the funniest jobs I’ve ever had.”Earlier, he sat with THR, discussed many things including Josh playing both Thanos and Cable. He said:

“We don’t have anything written into our contracts about other roles that people can do. Indiana Jones and Han Solo are the same person…it hasn’t been a problem. And I think Thanos and Cable are two very different characters.”

He added:

“I think he’ll make one hell of a Cable.”

Although, the cast is stacked up with heavy-weights but the most important comic-book character is Thanos. Till now, he has been teased in Marvel movies in post-credits of Phase 2, 3 films, but Avengers Infinity war will be the first major project where he is going to be the central antagonist pursuing his evil designs.

He shared a picture on his Instagram account teasing his transformation into the most powerful cosmic being in the galaxy. He teased the massive powers of Infinity gems, each of them individually is powerful but collectively they can rewrite reality and destroy worlds. He opened up in an interview and said that he may not have all the Infinity stones in Avengers Infinity War. This triggered a speculation if the Thanos’ journey to collect all the gems would be stretched across two films. To address this issue, he said:

“I haven’t done the second movie so I don’t know. I literally don’t know what the second script is. I don’t know if they’ve finished the second script, and that’s the truth. I think they’re in the midst of structuring and restructuring.”

He also added that Thanos will also use psychological tactics as much as he would use brute force.

But recently, he revealed important details of the character and his experience playing it in an interview with EW. He said:

“I love doing Avengers, it’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. I just saw a little snippet of it, and it was amazing. The cutting-edge technology of what they’re doing, what I’ve seen is absolutely mind-blowing. When I saw it on screen, it was me, but also not like me. It’s really strange.”

Josh Brolin is very excited for his role as Cable and is constantly sharing photos and pictures from the sets on his Instagram account. The latest picture has Cable pissed which led fans to speculate that this is actually a scene from the movie. They believe it is more than mere screaming and Brolin may be teasing another villain who is very close to Cable.

It is possible that Cable is just mad at something but he is screaming into a broken mirror, looks totally unhinged. It could be the case that it’s not Cable but his evil clone Stryfe from the comics. When Cable was sent to the future, his clone was made in his absence, kidnapped by Apocalypse and taught to accept mutant supremacy and destroy humanity. He later came as the leader of Mutant liberation front which is possible as something related has just been confirmed.

The fans praised the look of Cable as its closer to his comic-book counterpart. David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2, he won’t just look but also act like his comic-book character. He said in an interview with CBR that the tone of the movie will be lifted from comic-book pages. He said that the fans of Deadpool and Cable comics should be excited about the film. Here’s his full quote:

thanos

“Cable has a really interesting and complex backstory. Obviously, no film could ever encapsulate the entire backstory, so I think we’ll find the first introduction is about who this character is. When you look at the Cable and Deadpool comic book series, you see how there is banter between them. Whether they are on opposite sides or not, they are definitely formidable to each other. One is frustrating to the other. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin is amazing. It’s not unlike what you see in the Cable and Deadpool series”.

The studio has been building the hype of Thanos and Cable, so expectations of Marvel fans are very high, some even believe that the Avengers Infinity War will not only break a record of highest box-office collections for a superhero movie but of any movie. And it’s heartening to see that things are falling into the right place.

Well, as far as fans are concerned, they are happy with Josh playing both the iconic characters. We will see him as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, and as Cable in Deadpool 2 sometime in 2018 as well. CHEERS!
