Illuminati Team Include Eternals:
There are several Superhero teams that will soon be making their way into the MCU. The Eternals, Young Avengers, Thunderbolts, Midnight Sons, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Inhumans & maybe even the Ultimates. And recently, we got a new report from The Illuminerdi stating that Kevin Feige will be producing a live action project based on the Illuminati comic series in the distant future. Well obviously, it will have to be in the distant future because currently, the MCU just has two of the 6 Illuminati members as well established characters.
In the comics, this is a Cabal of heroes that represent different heroic factions. They formed an alliance because they thought that they could prevent Earth much more efficiently if they compared notes and formed contingencies. The initial members were Doctor Strange, Professor X, Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Black Bolt and Namor. Black Panther was also in this Cabal but he left. Then later, Hulk, Captain America & Beast were also added to the team. Captain America was kicked out of the team when he retaliated upon the decision of forcefully sending Hulk to a different planet. Anyway, the members of the team kept changing. So, the MCU could also be flexible with the 6 members that they’ll use to form this group. Or maybe, they could actually use more than 6 heroes.
Doctor Strange represents the mystical & supernatural side of this Earth based team. You could consider him as the leader of the Midnight Sons, although that team is yet to be formed in the MCU. Anyway, Doctor Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme (or will be) and that’s enough. Iron Man & Captain America would’ve been perfect candidates for this team as they’re the leaders of the Avengers. But sadly, one of them is too old, and the other one is too dead to join the team. Maybe this group will have an A.I. Tony Stark and old Man Cap to advise them. But don’t count them in just yet.
Black Panther is the King of Wakanda, and like the comics, he should also join this team. He could bring in the technological advancements of his nation, and represent the Avengers at the same time (if Captain Marvel isn’t added to the team as well). The other 4 members that are yet to arrive in the MCU are the X-Men leader Charles Xavier, Reed Richards representing the Fantastic Four, Blackbolt (the King of Inhumans), and Namor (the King of Atlantis). All 4 of these groups are going to be set up in Phase 4, so they could arrive in Phase 5. But, there’s one group of heroes will already be prominent before them. That’s none other than The Eternals.
The Eternals will be a group of powerful immortals who will be brought to light soon enough. They will continue as the saviors of Earth. So if their goal is similar to that of the Illuminati, then it’d make sense for the MCU to have the leader of The Eternals be a part of the Illuminati as well. Salma Hayek’s Ajak is said to be the leader of The Eternals, but even Angelina Jolie’s Thena & Richard Madden’s Ikaris are top contenders who could be a part of the future Illuminati team. If it’s not Ajak, then I’d say that Thena would be perfect to join Doctor Strange & others. Because with her, a bit of the much needed girl power would be added to the cabal, and the project would get the stardom of someone as big as Angelina Jolie. Let’s see how Marvel handles the Illuminati in the MCU. They might actually change the name of this group once it forms possibly towards the end of Avengers 5.
Until then, here’s the updated Phase 4 movie schedule of MCU – Black Widow on November 6, 2020, The Eternals on February 12, 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on May 7, 2021, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 on November 5, 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder on February 11, 2022, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, 2022, Black Panther II on May 6, 2022, and Captain Marvel 2 on July 8, 2022.
