The Batman, Shazam! 2 & The Flash Get New Release Dates Due to Coronavirus

DC Films New Release Dates:

The Coronavirus hasn’t just affected the movie release schedule of 2020, but it has also affected movies that were supposed to arrive in 2021 & 2022. Marvel reshuffled their entire release schedule as every movie got pushed to the next best slot except for Black Panther 2. Now, the DC Movies have also been reshuffled. Here’s how the release schedule of the DC films look now:

Wonder Woman 1984

The Batman, Shazam! 2 & The Flash DC Films New Release Dates

Within the last month, Wonder Woman 1984 was pushed from its original June 5 release to August 14. It still hasn’t moved from there even though there are still chances for the movie to get pushed even further in the year.

The Batman

The Batman, Shazam! 2 & The Flash DC Films New Release Dates

Matt Reeves’ The Batman had only been 25% shot before everything was shut down. There is still a lot of work left to be done so this movie was looking down the barrel to find a less competitive release date to delay the film to. From June 25, 2021, The Batman has now been pushed to October 1, 2021. October has been proved to be a viable month for the release of a Superhero film as Venom made a lot of money back in 2018, and now Venom 2 is looking to do the same. WB has high hopes from The Batman. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

The Suicide Squad

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad ended production in February. He is still working upon the editing from his home. So, The Suicide Squad was never going to be moved. In fact there’s so much time left that WB could actually move the release date up. But August proved to be successful for the previous Suicide Squad film, and even though this film isn’t technically a sequel, it will still seem like that to many people until the movie finally arrives on August 6, 2021. With The Batman being delayed, The Suicide Squad will be the next DC movie to follow Wonder Woman 1984. It’s too bad that the gap between DC films is too big.

Black Adam

Black Adam Movie to Get 2022 Release Date

Dwayne Johnson mentioned that the filming of Black Adam is likely going to be delayed. But still, the film will have more than a year to finish production and post production, so WB is backing the movie to come out on December 22, 2021. The good thing in 2021 will be that after waiting for a year to get another DC movie after Wonder Woman 1984, we will get one every 2 months starting from The Suicide Squad (August), The Batman (October) and Black Adam (December).

Shazam! 2

Shazam! Superman Henry Cavill

The Shazam! sequel was supposed to film simultaneously along with Black Adam, but it seems like there will be a filming delay as the film has been pushed from its April 1, 2022 release date. Now the movie will arrive 7 months later on November 4, 2022. The delay might actually be good for Shazam! 2 because it was going to face massive competition from Fast & Furious 10 on its original date.

The Flash

The Batman, Shazam! 2 & The Flash DC Films New Release Dates

Despite rumors that The Flash movie could get entirely cancelled due to Ezra Miller’s shenanigans, it seems like the film is more on track than even Shazam! 2. Why? Because instead of pushing the date of the film like every other film, WB has moved the release of The Flash by a month. Instead of July 1, 2022, The Flash will now arrive on June 3, 2022. This is a tactical movie made by WB so The Flash won’t be in direct competition with MCU’s Captain Marvel 2 (coming out on July 8, 2022). In fact, all these reshuffled releases have been tactical as to fit other 2021 movies that WB was supposed to bring us. Fantastic Beasts could get pushed to 2022 while The Matrix 4 could take its position in November 2021.

Aquaman 2

Shazam! Superman

James Wan’s Aquaman 2 hasn’t moved. It comes just after 1.5 months Shazam! 2. So basically, here’s the new DC order of release –

Wonder Woman 1984 – August 14, 2020

The Suicide Squad – August 6, 2021

The Batman – October 1, 2021

Black Adam – December 22, 2021

The Flash – June 3, 2022

Shazam! 2 – November 4, 2022

Aquaman 2 – December 16, 2022
