2021 is packed with Marvel Cinematic Universe releases till the end of the year and the beginning of the upcoming year. The releases include both movies and shows, with movies set to introduce new characters. One of the most enticing characters to be introduced amongst them is going to be Shang-Chi in the September release, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This character was something fans had waited on for a long time as Shang-Chi is one of the lesser-known characters who has no superpowers. Bein Marvel’s first martial arts film, it is set to deliver action-packed sequences and intends to explore both the mystical and the spiritual dynamics. With new Shang-Chi images out, let’s see what’s in store for us with this release.
Shang-Chi’s parents
Here, we can see Tony Leung, playing Wenwu or better known the Mandarin, and Fala Chen, playing Jing Li i.e Shang-Chi’s mother. Very little is know about the portrayal of Jing Li based on her minimal appearance in the trailers for the movie. Her relationship with Wenwu is supposed to be an integral part of the story.
Using the Ten Rings
Wenwu is seen using the Ten Rings, which possesses magical elements and plays an integral part in the plot of the movie. This moment could be linked to the scene from the trailer where we can see Wenwu battle with Fala Chen using the rings.
Jing Li’s colors
An essential detail that could be observed from this still is the factor color design of the clothes play for the characters. As it can be seen here in this still, Fala Chin’s Jing Li is wearing yellow and green which could be in connection to the yellow energy produced by Shang-Chi when he uses the Ten Rings.
Brother, sister, and Katy
This still shows Meng’er Zhang’s Xialing i.e Shang-Chi’s sister, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi himself, and Awkwafina’s Katy i.e Shang-Chi’s friend. Both the brother and sister duo can be seen in their suits while Katy is probably wearing some borrowed dress as she is almost a tourist in the place, while they have also been seen wearing their street clothes in the trailer.
Xialing in the battle arena
This shot of Xialing is from the battle arena we have previously seen in the trailers and teasers. This is the same arena where we had seen the much-hyped battle between Wong and the Abomination. Also, this shot could be moments to the fight between Xialing and Shang-Chi.
K’un-Lun, the lost city
The place indicated in this shot could be K’un-Lun, a lost city from the comic books, popular for its magical properties. This is the place where they face the Mandarin.
The Confrontation
Here we see all three of the previously mentioned characters confronting the Mandarin. This is also the same location where we previously saw Mandarin control water using the power of the Ten Rings. Another scene from the trailer, where we saw Jing Li training a young Shang-Chi, references this place too.
