Kevin Feige confirmed the fact that Keanu Reeves is consulted about every new role coming in the MCU. Marvel has talked to him about roles before, and they would’ve continued talking to him about future roles if his role was not already decided. We’ve tried to attach Keanu with almost every character including the likes of Namor, Nova, Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer, Nightmare and many more. But he always wanted to play one specific role in the MCU, and Marvel has granted him his wish. Keanu Reeves will be the next Wolverine and we love this choice already.
Here’s what Reeves said back in October 2018:
“I always wanted to play Wolverine. But I didn’t get that. And they have a great Wolverine now. I always wanted to play The Dark Knight. But I didn’t get that one. They’ve had some great Batmans. So now I’m just enjoying them as an audience. [But] Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine.”
Well, we cannot appreciate this choice any more than we’re already doing it because this has to be the best decision. Age is not a factor with this guy. Even at 55, he has shown that he can still kick plenty of ass. I bet he can do it for the next 10 years or so. We love him as John Wick. He is going to return as Neo. But his best role is yet to arrive. As far as the “when” of this situation is concerned, we’ve also got an answer for that. Deadpool 3 has got its release date. It is coming out on February 17, 2023. That is when Wolverine would first make his appearance in the MCU. His second appearance will happen in the same year as Reeves will also be a part of the X-Men movie that will end MCU’s 2023 on November 3.
Now that is awesome!! Since Marvel is assembling the X-Men and Fantastic Four before Avengers 5, it is highly likely that these heroes will appear in Avengers 5 in 2024. So, Avengers 5 has to mark the third appearance of Keanu Reeves as Wolverine in the MCU. We just cannot wait to see him take on Deadpool, and other MCU heroes or villains. A crossover between Wolverine & Black Panther would be awesome to witness as well. Who knows, Avengers 5 could actually set up Reeves’ solo Wolverine movie which will be about his origin in the MCU.
Since mutants weren’t a thing in the MCU’s past, we could imagine that the origin of Wolverine would actually take place in the recent years. Perhaps The Falcon And The Winter Soldier might hint at government experiments upon Mutants, and one of those has to be the Weapon X program. Let’s see what happens.
Okay I’m sorry. This was the last one. No our lovable Keanu Reeves hasn’t been cast as Logan yet. He will surely join the MCU before it gets too late. Perhaps Doctor Doom might be the role. But it’s certainly not Wolverine. Nothing written above is true. But the following is because Kevin Feige already has the perfect actor to play Wolverine in the MCU – Jonah Hill!!
