To be able to escape reality and enter a world full of possibilities, where anything is possible is everyone’s dream and they fulfill this dream by immersing themselves in these awesome Fantasy TV shows. Fantasy Shows are full of amazing mythical creatures and magic. Building a mystical world from scratch seems like a stretch, but these shows did it masterfully.
#10: True Blood (2008 – 2014)
True Blood is a Fantasy series based on the modern world, where Vampires are a reality and are trying to co-exist with humans. It is unlike any other Vampire show you have ever seen and it is not just another teen vampire show. It portrays the viewpoints of both humans and vampires beautifully, making it very difficult to take sides.
#9: Penny Dreadful (2014 – 2016)
Penny Dreadful is a gothic horror show full of supernatural elements. It has surreal visuals that make the atmosphere very unsettling. Eva Green is fantastic in the show and her performance alone would hook you in. Penny Dreadful presents your favorite supernatural stories in the most gruesome and horrific manner.
#8: Once Upon a Time (2011 – 2018)
Once Upon a Time is the perfect show for Fairy Tale lovers and it tells the story of a magical land where everything is possible. The show revolves around Emma, who is supposedly the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, and now has to save everyone from the wrath of the Evil Queen.
#7: The Vampire Diaries (2009 – 2017)
Before the Zombies took over, Vampires were all the rage and The Vampire Diaries had a big role in that. This show is super intense and the best part about it is that each episode ends with a shocking twist. It features a lot of other supernatural creatures as well, giving us the perfect blend of action and fantasy.
#6: Lucifer (2015 -)
Who would have ever guessed that a show featuring the Devil as the lead character would be loved so much? The show has managed to gain a gigantic fan-following due to its intriguing storyline and characters. The Fanbase even managed to save the show after Fox canceled it abruptly by organizing an online revolution and fortunately it became better after Netflix picked it up.
#5: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997 – 2003)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an iconic show that had a very big hand in making the Fantasy genre mainstream. A conversation about the Fantasy genre would be incomplete without Buffy. The show is full of amazing characters like Buffy, Anya, Spike, etc. who still have a big place in our hearts.
#4: Outlander (2014 -)
Outlander has been a fan favorite since the book came out and the fans were skeptical about the TV adaptation, but all their doubts were removed after this show came out as it is a fantastic adaptation. The cinematography is amazing and the actors are perfect in their respective roles. It is the result of a perfect collision between romance and fantasy.
#3: Stranger Things (2016 -)
Stranger Things is an amazing show that will take you to a nostalgic trip, full of fantastical and supernatural happenings. On top of its intriguing storyline, the show has superb characters who take this show on another level. The show is now a worldwide sensation and one of the best shows to come out in the past few years.
#2: Supernatural (2005 – 2020)
The fans of this genre have spent the last 15 years of their lives watching the legendary Winchester brothers eradicate all kinds of evil from this world. It was a dream come true for everyone who loves this genre as it has it all – Demons, Angels, Werewolves, Vampires, Ghosts, and even God. We have grown up loving the trio of Dean, Sam, and Castiel, and we are going to miss them a lot.
#1: Game of Thrones (2011 – 2019)
Say whatever you want to about the last season of Game of Thrones, it is still one of the biggest TV shows in all history. We have never seen such a magnanimous show and we might never see something like this in the future. The show strikes the perfect balance between a medieval world and fantasy.
