Top 10 Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises

Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises:

The movie industry is flooded with big franchises now as sequels, prequels and reboots are supposedly the only way to go. But it is not all bad as there are some amazing movie franchises which differ in quality. The majority of movies in these franchises are awesome but this list is about their weakest link.

#10: Hannibal Rising (2007)

Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises

Franchise Name: Hannibal Lecter

The first movie that comes to mind when we talk about the Hannibal Lecter franchise is The Silence of the Lambs as it is the best movie in the franchise, and Hannibal Rising is the worst. Fans love Hannibal Lecter because he is intriguing, and origin movies surrounding such characters are always a big risk, proved by this movie.

#9: Mission Impossible 2 (2000)

Franchise Name: Mission Impossible

Unlike the other franchises, the worst movie of this franchise came at a very early stage, and it is a very good thing. Mission Impossible franchise is currently one of the best action franchises but it also has dark spots. The second movie tried a bit too hard to be something else and divided the entire fanbase.

#8: Alien 3 (1992)

Franchise Name: Alien

Alien 3 is filled with good performances, but it was the script that disappointed the fans. It was David Fincher’s first feature film and he tried too many controversial things at once. Alien 3 is not the worst movie in this franchise, but it is the most disappointing one as it followed the spectacular first two movies.

#7: Terminator Genisys (2015)

Franchise Name: The Terminator

The Terminator franchise was never the same after James Cameron left and it hit rock bottom when this movie came out. Terminator Genisys is a perfect example as to why reboots are dreaded. Not even a single thing worked in favor of this movie. It was full of bad CGI and the plot was even worse.

#6: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises

Franchise Name: Star Trek

Star Trek is one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises due to its awesome characters and storylines. The Final Frontier is the worst movie in this franchise as the writing completely fails. The only saving grace for this movie is its characters, but even they could not save this movie from being a disaster.

#5: Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

Franchise Name: Star Wars

The fans give the prequels a lot of hate but that changed after The Rise of Skywalker came out. This movie is filled with plot holes and inconsistencies which disappointed the Star Wars fans gravely. This movie has stunning visuals and nothing else. It is highly predictable and has no charm of the original.

#4: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Franchise Name: Indiana Jones

This movie is a classic example of studio executives trying to make some extra bucks. The Last Crusade ended on a perfect note, but they had to ruin it for more money. The addition of Mutt Williams did not help this movie one bit.

#3: X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises

Franchise Name: X-Men

The X-Men franchise is a mixed bag, but it has its moments. The last movie in this franchise is also the worst. The makers just gave up on this franchise and created a half-baked CGI fest. After Disney acquired Fox, the movie was subjected to expensive reshoots and it ruined the movie.

#2: A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)

Franchise Name: Die Hard

They made John McClane, the star of this franchise, into a supporting character, what other result did the makers expect after this? This movie has no script, the antagonist is not impactful and it has no humor. They even parodied the death of Hans Gruber, which felt like a slap on every Die Hard fans’ face.

#1: Rocky V (1990)

Bad Movies in Awesome Franchises

Franchise Name: Rocky

Rocky V had the potential to end this amazing franchise, but fortunately, that did not happen as the franchise is now going strong. Rocky V did not do justice with the fans as it tried to do the same things that we have already seen in the previous movies and it failed miserably.
