The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Set Photos Reveal That “Cap is Back”
Falcon And The Winter Soldier Set Photos: “Cap is Back”
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is going to be a building block for the future of the MCU as the overall story is going to touch crime syndicates like the Alchemists, bring in new heroes and villains, touch upon Superhuman Wrestling (UCFC), set up the Thunderbolts, introduce mutants through Madripoor and so on. But the main purpose of this show will be to decide who will take on the mantle of Captain America. “Cap is Back” but it isn’t the one you’d actually prefer.
Steve Rogers chose Sam Wilson as the new Captain America but the government won’t accept him as the representative of America because of his history with the Accords. Sam Wilson was a wanted fugitive of the UN for 2 years, so even though he helped with saving the world, he won’t be the next Captain America. The government will appoint John Walker as their own representative, and we’ve already seen a tease of the new Cap. A big event will be held to announce the next Captain America, and now we’re seeing posters for that big event.
There will be major propaganda carried out and the world is going to know that John Walker is going to be the next Captain America. Since he also has the same shield that Steve Rogers handed over to Sam, it seems that Sam Wilson will be okay with this decision and has willingly given away the shield. In fact, a recent plot leak of the first episode has suggested that – “Sam isn’t allowed to be Cap because of the events of Civil War, but trusts US Agent to take over the mantle. US Agent genuinely wants to do a good job and doesn’t realize he’s part of a bigger plan.”
It is understandable why Sam is also okay with John Walker being the next Captain America. First of all, he probably knows the kind of man that John Walker is. Secondly, he sort of has a history of with not playing well with the government, but more importantly, when Cap gave him the shield, he was hesitant to take it. He didn’t believe that he was ready for the mantle and the huge responsibility that comes with it. But through the course of the episode, we’re going to see him establish that why no one but him deserves the title of Captain America.
Very recently, we got to know that another Captain America from the past, Isaiah Bradley will also appear on the series and Carl Lumbly will portray the role. The US government didn’t stop trying to recreate the super-soldier serum after Cap went under ice. And it seems that Isaiah Bradley was one of the test subjects for the new Super Soldier program, and he did serve has Captain America for a while in the 70s. But there seems to be a darker conspiracy involved with the government’s Super Soldier program, and that’s probably what will incline Sam Wilson towards getting his shield and mantle back. What it is still remains to be a mystery. We’ll have to wait and see how things will go when the series arrives.
