Confusing Movies of All Time:
These movies are hard to follow, have complicated storylines and you won’t be able to figure out what is going on. But that is part of the fun, as it gives a great sense of accomplishment to those fans who crack the code and understand the true meaning behind the movie. These movies are made for cinephiles who truly enjoy movies and see them as art.
#10: Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Stanley Kubrick was a visionary and Eyes Wide Shut is his final masterpiece. You need an open mind to truly enjoy and understand the message behind this movie. It did not perform well at the Box Office and it is a shame as this movie is a lot more than just sex, as many people believe it to be.
#9: Interstellar (2014)
Interstellar is based on scientific theories that exist today, and it tries to be as accurate as possible, which left a lot of fans confused. Christopher Nolan is a genius when it comes to storytelling and fans love him for his originality. For those who are not aware of the science portrayed in this movie, it can be a puzzling experience.
#8: 12 Monkeys (1995)
A lot of fans can relate to 12 Monkeys as we might be heading towards a situation similar in the future to what is presented in this movie. The story is presented in a very creative manner, but that also led to a lot of confusion among the fans as the chronology of events became too much to keep track of.
#7: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
2001: A Space Odyssey is Kubrick’s masterpiece, full of stunning visuals and silent scenes. It is a slow burner and you must truly immerse yourself in the movie to get it. This movie is not for people without patience, if you miss out on even one small detail, then this movie will confuse you in the end.
#6: Donnie Darko (2001)
Donnie Darko is a cult classic and it is set in a world of talking bunnies, schizophrenic episodes, and intense psychotherapy. The movie is filled with disturbing imagery and you will be confused as to what’s real and what’s not. You can interpret this movie in several ways and it is bound to baffle you.
#5: Mother! (2017)
For its entire runtime of 2 hours, you won’t be able to figure out what is going on in this movie. You’ll hate this movie until you truly understand the underlying theme of this movie. Mother is underrated and not a lot of people could understand it. You won’t be able to forget this movie once you get it.
#4: Eraserhead (1977)
Eraserhead is interpreted differently by different people everywhere which makes it a classic movie. You cannot summarize this movie in words, you’ll have to watch it to get it. The movie is awesome but it is also very weird and confusing. The movie might seem very random to a casual viewer.
#3: Memento (2000)
Memento is a masterpiece by Christopher Nolan, and it is about amnesia. The best thing about this movie is that it plays out in reverse but that is also why the fans were confused by this movie. The protagonist has amnesia, there are endless flashbacks and the ending is open to interpretations which makes it very puzzling.
#2: Inception (2010)
Dreams are very confusing in itself, but the concept of dreams within a dream is even more confusing. Christopher Nolan is one of the greatest directors in the industry currently but his movies are not really made for casual audiences. His latest movie Tenet seems even more confusing, and we can’t wait for it.
#1: Mulholland Drive (2001)
It is very difficult to understand what is going on inside the crazy mind of the genius David Lynch. This movie is very incoherent and the storytelling is not traditional. It is all over the place and open to interpretation. You won’t be able to figure out what is going on. The movie never really explains it, and leaves it all up to its viewers.
