The Flash Movie Feature Female Reverse-Flash:
While Marvel keeps growing their arsenal stronger with every movie they schedule for a release, DC also keeps adding their own movies to stay in the game. And for the first time, DC is looking at launching 3 films per year, and every one of the upcoming films is as exciting as any of the MCU films. The Flash was the last movie to get a release date, and we’re hoping that the film will finally hit the theatres without another directorial change.
So far from what we know, The Flash will take up a story that involves Flashpoint. Speaking to ThatHashtagShow, director Muschietti revealed that we will be seeing a “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting.” Since he didn’t go into a lot of detail with the Flashpoint storyline, we’re assuming that this “different version of Flashpoint” will actually be about bringing Robert Pattinson’s Batman, and possibly a new Superman into the Worlds of DC. Basically, it is a movie that will be all about course correction for the DCEU. The absence of Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill will be addressed like this.
All of this will lead to a new roster of the Justice League which will have Robert Pattinson as Batman, a new Superman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller) possibly Shazam!, Green Lanterns, and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). But all of this is future talk. For now, we need to focus solely on the Flash. Back when Game Night filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were attached to the film, it was being reported that we’d be seeing ground level villains like Captain Cold & a few others in the movie. But that won’t be the case anymore since the upcoming film is going to be about Flashpoint.
With the Flashpoint storyline comes the greatest Flash villain of all time, the Reverse Flash. But since we’ve seen plenty from Reverse Flash on the Arrowverse, it is possible that things will change when Reverse Flash arrives on the big screen. A new piece of information has arrived from 4Chan and this information states something you wouldn’t have been expecting. It reads:
“Barry Allen has the power of super speed, and fights daily against villains in Central City, but that doesn’t stop him from suffering for his mother’s death, but everything changes when he meets a mysterious woman, named Eobard Thawne, who teaches Barry a way to change his mother’s tragic fate.”
So, Reverse-Flash is being changed into a woman. Actually, this is a welcome change because things would feel pretty fresh with a female Reverse-Flash that has a different backstory. In fact, the 4Chan post also suggests that Jessica Chastain is in talks to be Eobard Thawne in this film. Let’s wait and see if any of this is true because 4Chan is not known for its legitimacy.
Last year Ezra Miller spoke about this film being about 4 years late from its original planned date. He said:
“Anyone who knows anything about Barry Allen knows that he’s always late. But then when he arrives, he gets stuff done. And that’s definitely how this film’s production schedule is proceeding. We’re a little late. But the reason why we are late, and this is the honest to god truth… We’re all — and I include myself in this — we are very meticulously focused on making a movie that’s not just one of the greatest superhero movies that we can possibly make. This movie’s also going to be a gift to the fans.”
We’d love to see what Miller is bringing to the table. As for the DC slate, this year is going to bring in some girl power with Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984. 2021 is going to be dedicated to Batman-related movies with Matt Reeves’ The Batman & James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad making their way to the theatres. The year will end with Black Adam, and 2022 will begin with Shazam! 2. Then comes The Flash, which will arrive in July 2022. And the year is going to end with Aquaman 2, which has been slated for a December release. And all other films that are under development will also get release dates soon as Superman, Green Lantern Corps, Supergirl & Joker 2 could get release dates for 2023.
