Deadpool & Cable to Join MCU:
Deadpool is going to be a major property for Marvel once they figure out how to really use him. For the next 2 years, all of Marvel’s releases are stacked. There’s no individual Fox anymore as Disney made the biggest of acquisitions this year. So in turn, there is no Deadpool movie that has been scheduled for the future. Disney has scrapped all future plans of Fox and they’d do their own thing with the large catalogue that they bought. Bob Iger confirmed that there won’t be two Marvels, and Kevin Feige will get to handle all of Fox’s X-Men & Fantastic Four properties. So, the next Deadpool movie that comes out will be produced by Kevin Feige.
It is obvious that Deadpool won’t be recast and he definitely is coming to the MCU. But Marvel has to find a way to bring him into the boundaries of the MCU. They really should use the continuity of Deadpool 1 & 2, and make a direct sequel to those. Giving Deadpool a reboot origin would really be a waste of time as people have already seen how he becomes Deadpool. So, Deadpool should be brought in through the Multiverse. Time travel was already an established concept in the Deadpool Universe (even though it works differently in the MCU), and now the Multiverse could also come into play.
Marvel is already bringing the multiverse in play with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and by the end of Deadpool 3, we could see Deadpool walking into the MCU using that similar Multiverse concept. In fact, he could even bring Josh Brolin’s Cable along. While, this could be one way to bring Deadpool a Reddit user states that Marvel’s very own Time Travel device could be used to retcon Deadpool 2.
So according to this theory, after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Cable could find the time device that Tony Stark built sometime in the future. Then he could come back in time to prevent that future from ever happening. Coming back, he could meet MCU’s Deadpool. But then again, any of this cannot work in the MCU as there would be quite a lot of plot holes if we explore this theory any further. Time Travel in the MCU is very different. Changing the past events would only create an alternate timeline. So, perhaps Cable could come back, alter events, create a new timeline and probably live in it for the rest of his time just like Captain America did.
None of it will make perfect sense until Kevin Feige gives Deadpool a go. It will be very tricky for Marvel to introduce Deadpool, but they can obviously do it. Ryan Reynolds recently teased a meeting with Marvel. And we’ve seen reports suggesting that another Deadpool movie is being developed at Marvel Studios.
Deadpool 2 writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are ready to return and last we heard, they were just waiting for the call of Kevin Feige to start working on another Deadpool movie. Here’s what Wernick had to say:
“Kevin Feige has so much on his plate and he is the master of the universe. When Kevin says it’s time, it’ll be time. That may be a year from now, it may be six months from now, it may be three years from now. He doesn’t make a wrong move so whatever decision he makes will be the right one. Again, we’re ready to snap to it whenever Ryan gives us that call and says ‘Let’s go.’ And that’s also about finding the right idea and how that fits into the larger MCU universe. It’s a little more complicated than when we were at Fox, but we’re happy to be part of the MCU now and whatever Kevin says, we do.”
Well, Feige does have too much on his hands but being the CCO of Marvel, we know that he’d do something with Deadpool very soon!
