Venom 2 Adds a Second Villain:
Venom is getting ready to begin production, and we can’t help but be more excited about the movie. The first film was a dud for the critics, but that became one of the many occasions where the audience just ignored them and enjoyed the film like it should have been. It wasn’t something drastically different, but it was still unique in its own way. That’s just of the kind of protagonist that was introduced to us. It was a simple fun outing that set up what could be an even better sequel. Woodey Harrelson showed up in the end, and we knew that Venom 2 is gonna be maximum Carnage!
It was right then that we got the confirmation for Carnage to be the villain in the second movie. The creatives behind this film would have definitely thought of putting Carnage in the third movie since he is the biggest villain of Venom, but that’s not the case and we know why. We’d get back to the reason for it later, as right now we’ve got to talk about Carnage not being the only villain in the Venom sequel.
It comes straight from Deadline that besides Carnage, Venom 2 will feature another villain called Shriek. For those unaware, Frances Barrison aka was a drug dealer whose latent mutant powers emerged after she suffered from a severe trauma. “Spider-Man Unlimited #1” marked her first appearance and she also played an important role in “Maximum Carnage” which will be the inspiration for the plot of Venom 2.
She could be the love interest of Cletus Cassidy aka Carnage in the upcoming movie. In the books Carnage and she went off on a very violent killing spree together. Venom is going to need some serious help because her powers allow her to manifest sonic energy blasts in combat, and high frequency sound waves are one of the two major weaknesses that Venom has. We were already wondering how Venom might be able to beat Carnage because Carnage is definitely superior to Venom. And now the odds are against Venom even more.
Shriek also another ability that might come very handy in Venom 3. Apparently, she can tap into people’s minds and bring out their inner demons. So, what if this is how Venom & Spider-Man will be pit against each other in Venom 3. Venom director recently confirmed that Spider-Man crossing over with Venom has to be the ultimate goal. He said:
“That’s (crossover) where it’s all going to lead. And that’s the exciting thing, because we changed the origin of Venom … in the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”
So, what if Shriek manipulates either Venom or Spider-Man in Venom 3. Till the time these two heroes fight each other, she’d work on bringing Carnage back in play after whatever happens with him in Venom 2. But the time Carnage is brought back, Venom & Spidey could sort it all out and team up to take him on! And, since it will probably be the final film, the likes of Morbius may also crossover. Let’s see what happens.
To set up a storyline like this, we’re assuming that Tom Holland could somehow make a cameo in Venom 2. The movie is yet to begin production, so a few changes could still be made to either have a Spider-Man cameo. But it is also important that Sony doesn’t rush things. They’ve got Spider-Man available for their own Universe, so let’s hope that they’d use him wisely.
Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters will continue with Morbius, which will come out on July 31, 2020. Followed by that will be Venom 2, which will release on October 4.
