Loki & Mjolnir Will Reportedly Return For Thor: Love And Thunder

Except for Shang-Chi may be, the hype for every MCU movie coming out in Phase 4 is pretty damn high. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may be the film that is actually the most important one to drive the story of the MCU forward, but Thor: Love And Thunder is the one that people are really excited for. Taika Waititi is back to direct the movie, and he will deliver a sequel to Ragnarok.

Loki Mjolnir Thor: Love And Thunder

Love and Thunder is such a simplistic title, and yet it is the most amazing movie title of the entire MCU. It totally describes what the movie is going to be about. Taika revealed that Jane Foster is going to appear in the film as the Mighty Thor. Now to make her worthy of the power of Thor, having the magical hammer Mjolnir is a necessity. So where will Taika manage to bring Mewmew back from?

Will Thor be taking another trip to Nidavellir? Eitri could come in really handy to this story, and he’d fit in right well considering he does have ties to Thor and Asgard. But the reason for Eitri to be making another Mjolnir doesn’t strike us. Avengers: Endgame brought it back from the past, so is that what’s going to happen? Following this path would create an alternate reality. Cap obviously closed that branch as he did presumably return the hammer back to where it was taken from.

Perhaps the answer to bringing back the hammer lies in the upcoming Loki series. We know that the Loki that’d be appearing in the show is going to be the villainous Loki from the first Avengers movie. He hasn’t gone through the death of his mother, or father yet. He hasn’t had the experience of ruling Asgard and isn’t as mature as we saw him in Infinity War. The villain Loki aka the God of Mischief is the one that everyone loves the most. So, bringing him back to explore Loki’s character is obviously the greatest idea.

But rumor has it that in the Disney+ series, Loki will be creating havoc throughout history. With the Tesseract, he obviously created an alternate timeline, i.e. an alternate reality/Universe. WandaVision will lead us to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Wanda may create her own alternate reality, i.e. MCU’s House of M. That’s probably the Madness that Doctor Strange has to deal with, which is why Scarlet Witch will also be involved in the story.

Since the Multiverse gets properly introduced in Doctor Strange 2, the movie could also tie up with the Loki series which will also deal with the Multiverse. Loki is said to change events throughout history somehow, and that could create further multiple timelines. That’s exactly what could lead us to Thor: Love and Thunder, because Loki could be the means to bring back the hammer as well.

The way all the shows and movies are lined up in Phase 4 makes total sense. The Falcon & The Winter Soldier would lead us into WandaVision. And as we’ve established above, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow next, along with Loki setting up Thor: Love and Thunder. Now did you really expect to have a Thor movie without Loki being involved somehow? Loki is what completes Thor as a character, and that’s why Tom Hiddleston is going to be a part of the movie. Since the story also needs Mjolnir, Loki could be the key to bringing the hammer back.

What if Jane Foster is Thor in one of these alternate timelines that Loki creates, and that’s where she comes into the story? Only Taika knows about this well. So let’s wait and see what happens. Here’s the slate of Phase 4 – Black Widow on May 1, 2020, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in Fall 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, WandaVision in Spring 2021, Loki in Spring 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, What If? In Summer 2021, Hawkeye in Fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021.
