6 Facts About the Uni-Mind of Eternals That Only Comic Book Fans Know

MCU’s latest entry, Eternals, is already in the theatres. The movie features a group of ten immortal soldiers sent to Earth by the All-powerful Celestials. The Celestials sent the Eternals to protect the innocent humans from the threat of the Deviants. But by the end, we realize that the Deviants were not the real threat after all. The Earth was in danger from the Emergence of a Celestial from within the planet. And to stop him, all the Eternals united their powers to create the Uni-Mind and killed Tiamut, the emerging Celestial. Today, we’re going to facts about the Uni-Mind of Eternals.

The Uni-Mind debuted in the movie as an invention of Phastos, the science guy of the Eternals. However, in the comics, the Uni-Mind was very different. MCU’s Phastos described the Uni-Mind as something that is created when the minds of all the Eternals are united. The Uni-Mind unites their powers and can make one Eternal strong enough to kill a Celestial. So, bear with us while we list some very interesting facts about the Uni-Mind from the comic books.

1. THE UNI-MIND IS A SEPARATE ENTITY

Uni-Mind of Eternals

Eternals feature the Uni-Mind as a compound created when all the Eternals unite their powers. However, in the comics, the Uni-Mind was a living being whose powers were beyond any Eternal. Whenever all the Eternals united with each other, they ceased to exist individually and became one. The process is more or less like Power Rangers when they form a Megazord. The comics refer to the Uni-Mind as an interdimensional being who can be accessed only by the Prime-Eternal.

2. THE UNI-MIND IS MADE UP OF PURE ENERGY

Now we know that Uni-Mind exists without the Eternals linked together but it is gender-less and does not belong to any race. It is simply a compound of pure energy and mind. It can be a very complex concept and many readers still don’t understand this.

3. THE UNI-MIND IS NOT ETERNALS EXCLUSIVE

The Uni-Mind is not exclusively for Eternals only. There is a precedent in the comics where even the humans join in a Uni-Mind. In the comics, the people of the island of Madripoor were once linked together in a uni-mind. The Young God Mira found out that Celestials were nothing but Uni-Minds who were formed when several planets linked together with each other. Mira, who wanted to create a celestial who would represent humanity, linked the people of Madripoor together.

During the end scenes of the Eternals, Arishem takes away Kingo, Sersi and Phastos. So, if the other Eternals decide to bring them back, there are going to need a lot of energy as they will be going against the prime Celestial. In this case, they could very easily use the humans for the Uni-Mind and bring back their fellow Eternals. But this is highly unlikely.

4. THE UNI-MIND CAN CHANGE ITS FORM AND SHAPE

Facts About the Uni-Mind

The Uni-Mind, being a big ball of energy, can change its shape. In the comics, whenever the Uni-Mind was conjured, it took a humanoid form with a head, limbs, and fingers. However, the developers of MCU’s Uni-Mind dropped this idea for something new. They created the Uni-Mind as a convex lens that unites the powers of all the Eternals into a single one as they did with Sersi.

5. THE UNI-MIND CAN RESTORE THE ETERNALS’ POWERS

Uni-Mind of Eternals

MCU’s Eternals made Uni-Mind which unites the powers of the Eternals. However, it has so much more potential in the comics. For instance, when Makkari, Thena, Sersi, and Druig become temporarily human while attending a party, their enemies took advantage of their condition and attack them. All of a sudden, the uni-Mind was conjured out of nowhere and bonded the four Eternals and returned them to their original state. May readers found it very strange as the writers didn’t give any explanation as to how it happened. Some readers speculate that the Uni-Mind has self-activating powers and it can sense when the Eternals are in danger.

6. THE UNI-MIND DATES BACK 500,000 YEARS

The Uni-Mind was actually created long before the Marvel timeline began. Some Eternals, led by Kronos, experimented wherein they tried to isolate their energy connection with the Celestials. Even though they were able to do so, the energy contained was not stable. In a matter of seconds, the container exploded, transforming Kronos into a being of pure energy. The explosion was so big that it killed almost all of the Eternals present there.

Facts About the Uni-Mind

Eternals being immortal were resurrected and to their surprise, they got a significant boost in their powers. They tried the experiment again and were able to link their minds and wills together, hunting their abilities into a singular all-powerful being, Uni-Mind.
