Previously known for his rom-com roles, Reynolds has managed to transform himself into an actor who can take on any kind of role.

#1: He hated working on Green Lantern
It is safe to say that the majority of us have not watched the movie Green Lantern (2011), as we are not believers of self-inflicted torture. Turns out, Ryan Reynolds himself hated working on the movie. He admitted to having a poor working relationship with the director Martin Campbell. He also said that the film’s failure, critically and financially, was a huge relief because he did not want to play Hal Jordan again.
#2: He was interested in playing The Flash
Before playing Green Lantern in 2011, Reynolds expressed great interest in portraying another DC Comics character, The Flash. His wish never came true and after a while, he lost the interest to play the Fastest Man Alive. Thank God for that, or we would have been deprived of the perfect Deadpool.
#3: He gave Fox Studios an Ultimatum
We are all aware of the fact that Ryan Reynolds fought for a long time to make a Deadpool movie. So, after he was offered the movie Green Lantern, he gave Fox an ultimatum. He wrote them a letter which stated, “I am going to take this movie Green Lantern if you guys aren’t going to make Deadpool”. Fox responded that they could not greenlight Deadpool and that it likely would never be greenlit. So, Ryan committed to Green Lantern.
#4: He got kicked out of school for stealing a car
When Ryan Reynolds was in High school in Canada, he and his friends decided to play a prank on a teacher that they disliked, where they picked up their teacher’s car and moved it around the block. In Canada, the law states that if you move someone’s car more than ten feet, it is a Felony. Reynolds was not arrested for this, but he got kicked out of school.
#5: He Started acting at the age of 13
Ryan Reynolds knew he wanted to be an actor from a very young age. He landed his first gig at the age of 13. He was a part of a show on Nickelodeon called Fifteen. The show went on for 3 years. The first movie he did was in Sri Lanka and he was 14 at the time. He spent three months in a foreign country without his parents and on top of that Sri Lanka was in the midst of a Civil War at that time.
#6: Deadpool happened thanks to his role in Blade
Ryan Reynolds was still young in the industry when he got the role in the popular Marvel franchise Blade. An executive saw Reynold’s performance in Blade: Trinity, and it impressed him a lot. He liked Ryan’s performance so much that he thought he would be perfect for Deadpool. So, he sent Ryan a bunch of Deadpool comics which lead Reynolds to fall in love with the character. The first comic Ryan opened, described Deadpool as looking like a cross between Ryan Reynolds and a Shar-Pei.

Ryan Reynolds has no formal training as an actor. Reynolds even failed Drama class once. This is not very surprising as Ryan Reynolds does not really act in his movies, he just plays himself. Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool in real life, just without the powers.

While filming for Deadpool on April 12, 2015, Ryan was involved in a hit and run incident. While walking through a parking garage, he was struck by the car of a reporter, who then fled the scene. Reynolds only sustained minor injuries, and later joked about the incident, as he usually does.

When his 1st daughter was born, a good friend of his tried to sell pictures of his daughter to a tabloid magazine. A furious Reynolds confronted the friend and confirmed the story was true and then told him their friendship was destroyed and they would never speak to or see each other ever again.
