Thor 4 Humans vs. Asgardians:
While he will be a part of the Asgardians of the Galaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor is most certainly getting his own solo feature production down the road. Thor 3, titled Thor: Ragnarok put Thor through a lot. He lost his home and his hammer. A lot of his friends and family died at the hands of his older sister Hela. After Infinity War and Endgame, the toll on the God of Thunder was insurmountable. But if you think Marvel is done tormenting the Odinson, you are dead wrong. In the next Thor movie, the God of Thunder will see himself caught in a war between the human race and the Asgardian race, and the movie will be inspired from a well-known storyline from the comic books.
There is no concrete proof for confirming the news, hence the term “rumor”. But there are several hints that have already been thrown at our ways by Thor 3 stars Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, who play Valkyrie and Thor in the MCU respectively. The new storyline will see the Asgardian refugees, who have settled down in a Norwegian town after Asgard was destroyed by Surtur during the climactic events of Ragnarok, fighting a group of humans that intend to invade New Asgard and claim the advanced Asgardian technology lying in the village for themselves.
This looks and sounds exactly like Siege, which saw Norman Osborn leading the United States and HAMMER’s armed forces against New Asgard in Oklahoma in the comic books. The result was the total decimation of New Asgard and death of several major characters, many of which were Asgardians.
This might sound a bit odd given the fact that Thor is currently in space. He is a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy and will have a cosmic adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. How is that movie going to create circumstances for Thor to come back to Earth and help his people against the very race he helped defend so many times in the past is a tale for another day. It does sound really implausible but hey, this is the MCU. In the realm of superheroes, anything is possible!!
All of the rumors do end up pointing at one thing – Norman Osborn just might be the new villain of the decade. In the Siege storyline, which is a successor to Dark Reign, Norman Osborn takes control of Shield and rechristens it as Hammer, which then becomes his personal army.
Using his new position of power, Osborn wreaks absolute havoc. If Osborn is coming, then not just Thor but also the Avengers are in grave danger. But Siege also had one other character in it that we might also be looking forward to. In that comic book storyline, Osborn’s greatest weapon is Sentry – Marvel’s answer to Superman. With the power of a thousand exploding suns running through his veins, the Sentry could also play a huge role in the MCU later on. If the rumors are true, that is.
The Last Solo Marvel movie to be released under the Disney banner is Captain Marvel. The movie is currently in theatres. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
