Yes, Kevin Feige has claimed that the Fox properties are going to be benched for a little while until Marvel executes the plans that they’ve been formulating over the last couple of years, but things can change! Sure it makes sense for the mutants and the Fantastic Four to make their debut about 5 years later, but Marvel can obviously lay down the groundwork for them in the next 3-4 years. Seeds could be planted for major characters like the Silver Surfer, or even Galactus and everything could work out perfectly. What’s great is that for some characters, the set up may already be there and one of those could be Doctor Doom.
The Infinity Stones could be used to bring the mutants into the MCU as Wanda & Pietro were the results of that. But let’s not talk about the Mutants, let’s dive into some other characters like Doctor Doom. From what sources claim, for now, Norman Osborn seems to be one of the great villains that will have a heavy impact upon the MCU’s future. But an even bigger personality within the comics is Doctor Doom!
Fox has screwed the character thrice, and they might have done it a fourth time as well. But fortunately, Marvel has gained control of all the Fox characters and they could be used similar to all the others that we’ve been seeing for quite a long time. Doctor Doom is surely a property that’s going turn big later on in the game. He won’t be associated with the Fantastic Four initially because that’s exactly what has been going wrong with him. We’re looking forward to how it’ll be done but the groundwork may have been laid down already, as reported by Comicbook.com.
Victor Von Doom goes on to become the leader of Latveria, another fictional country just like Sokovia. Now Latveria and Sokovia are generally in the same area. Bulgaria’s southern part is the country that Ultron destroyed, and towards the North is Latveria which is sandwiched between Hungary and Serbia. Now the link between Sokovia to Latveria might be difficult to achieve but it could certainly be done by having the people of both Sokovia and Latveria following Victor Von Doom.
Sokovia was completely obliterated by Ultron, and then Thanos’ Snap could have further put a hold to the redevelopment of the country. So people could look at Victor Von Doom as their new leader who will help them rebuild things in a new light! It’s just amazing that even though Marvel had to stick with the no mutants & Fantastic Four policy for so many years, they still can bring in those characters without actually doing a lot.
The reason why we’re stressing on Doctor Doom is because Noah Hawley, who was writing a Doctor Doom solo movie back when Fox owned these characters recently had a sitting with Kevin Feige and he actually thinks that his version of the character could still come into play. Here’s what he told The Hollywood Reporter calling himself the “Marvel R&D department”:
“What was interesting to me originally about the X-Men universe is these are movies that started in a concentration camp. They are clearly concerned with the true nature of human evil. It’s not just some cosmic force bringing about the end of the world. That’s what was always interesting to me here. Let’s explore through this genre the everyday evils we do to each other, the ways we hurt each other and take each other for granted. There are different stories and characters who will bring about other themes. I wrote a script about Doctor Doom, an antihero story I really like, and we’re still talking about making it. I’m trying to get out from under this movie I made and this last season of Legion, and Fargo is coming back up… but for better or worse, these are the stories we want to hear right now. I think you can bury your head in the sand and say, ‘That’s unfortunate for our culture because they’re simplistic.’ Some people say that. I don’t look at it that way. I think they are morality tales on a larger scale, and it’s better to be part of the conversation than pretend the conversation isn’t happening.”
Well, Doctor Doom sure would have a massive future which could come at us sooner rather than later. So let’s see what happens.
