Kingsman Star Taron Egerton Addresses Wolverine Rumors. Says He’d Love to Join the MCU

The biggest question that currently stands in Hollywood isn’t “whose going to be the next Batman?” That has already been answered. It isn’t “who will be the next Iron Man or James Bond?” It currently rests on “Who will be the next Wolverine?” So many names have been coming up in recent times but none of those have been confirmed. Marvel is going to take their merry time to cast the new Wolverine, but it’s good to know that so many actors including the Kingsman star Taron Egerton are already interested in joining the MCU as the next Wolverine!

Keanu Reeves, Tom Hardy, Jason Momoa, Charlie Hunnam, Scott Eastwood, and so many other actors have been associated with the character ever since Disney owned Fox and the word about the upcoming X-Men reboot got out. Kevin Feige has said it time and time again that Marvel is currently working on a 5-year slate, and it’s going to take them a while to introduce the Fox properties.

Wolverine Keanu Reeves

He told iO9:

“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men & Fantastic Four will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

Now just take a look at everything that is more or less confirmed to hit the theatres. At Comic-Con, we’re gonna be given a new slate for upcoming Marvel movies and that slate will most likely include the dates for Black Widow, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, Shang Chi, Captain Marvel 2, Spider-Man 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 & Thor 4. Now if you count these, they make a total of 10 films which are all independent solo franchises.

We haven’t even added the new rumored film properties like Black Knight, Captain Britain, Namor, Nova & the Thunderbolts, let alone the crossover films like the Avengers. So, all this is just too much to handle if you’re planning to put out 3 movies a year. That’s why X-Men and Fantastic Four will not be coming in any time soon. The seeds for those films may be laid down, but they won’t arrive just now.

But at least we’ve got certain contenders for these properties. A recent report from We Got This Covered suggested that Taron Egerton was being eyed to portray the angry clawed mutant. But the Kingsman actor has now addressed these rumors, and for those who were looking forward to this being true would certainly be disappointed. But hey, at least he is up for it!

Here’s what the Rocketman said about any involvement with the MCU:

“That one I think is just a rumor. As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded. I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough. I mean if the people at Marvel think I am then great, let’s go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere.”

Well, Egerton isn’t a hairy contender, and we don’t really know if he could express berserker rage in the way that this character requires. But as he said, sure we’d love to see him as some other character. It’d be interesting if Marvel looks upon him to be Captain Britain in the MCU. Brian Braddock is all but confirmed and Taron Egerton being a British actor could certainly pull it off. He is already a big enough name having starred in quite a lot of blockbusters already, so it will be cool if Marvel does bring him in for a specific role. Let’s see what happens.
