The Batman Production Start Date Reportedly Revealed

The Batman surely will be the most anticipated movie of the year in 2021. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will also generate a lot of hype, but Batman is a character that always brings the world together. The Dark Knight totally perfected the character and that’s what landed the Superhero genre in the Billion Dollar club for the first time. The next edition of Batman did not manage to make a major impact, and now everyone wants Matt Reeves to deliver the perfect version of the Caped Crusader.

We finally have our new Batman in the name of Robert Pattinson. The casting process will come through soon enough, and now we may already have the production start date for the film. Apparently, WB and Matt Reeves just want to get this movie right at any cost and they’re taking their merry time to deliver it.

According to a new report from The GWW, The Batman will probably begin its production from January 13 in London. Till then, Robert Battinson will have enough time to bulk up for Batman and finish production upon Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Tenet. This film has to be perfect in every way. It’s too bad that WB isn’t coming to Hall H at Comic-Con this year. But the fans at Comic-Con have sent a specific message for Matt Reeves instead.

“Hey Matt, don’t screw up our Batman movie.”

Matt most certainly wouldn’t do that. He revealed that this film will have a certified Rogues Gallery on display, so that obviously means that Batman and his villains already exist in the Universe that is being brought forward. Here’s what Reeves had to say about the villains of the film:

“We’re thinking the movie would probably be for 2021, late spring or summer. Warner Bros. has been incredibly supportive and given me a lot of time and shared the same passion that I do for this story. There will be a Rogues Gallery. The casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan. I’m doing another pass on the script and we’ll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things.”

So far, we know for a fact that Penguin will be the main big bad accompanied by Catwoman. Then there will be the Riddler who is more or less confirmed. The other 3 villains are rumored to be Mad Hatter, Firefly and Two-Face! This film will explore the detective skills of Batman. So, to do that The Riddler is obviously a must.

Reeves is building a Noir-themed aesthetic for the story which will take a more grounded approach, exploring the Detective skills of the Caped Crusader. No film has particularly delved into Batman being the World’s Number 1 detective, and this one will do exactly that. Here’s what Reeves had to say about his Noir-Batman themed story:

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

Let’s just hope that the film starts shooting on the date that has been revealed above. It’d be interesting to see who gets cast as the rest of the characters. Vanessa Kirby could be a great Catwoman. John Hamm for Two-face. What if Andy Serkis plays Penguin? It’d be so damn awesome! The Batman hits the theatres on June 25, 2021.
