Avengers: Endgame is back to playing in the theatres as Marvel had to try all their chips in order to beat Avatar. Now they might end up failing even after the rerelease, but still they’ve at least got people to talk about the film again. There are quite a lot of mysteries that are yet to be solved with the future MCU projects, and one of those is Gamora!
Now we do know that Thanos killed Gamora from the original timeline, and Gamora from 2014 came to the future with him in order to fight against the Avengers. But in a turn of events, Gamora fought against her own father, and the last we saw her was during the all-female team up the moment. After that, Gamora had gone missing throughout and she wasn’t even present during Tony Stark’s funeral.
While people believe that Gamora must have gone AWOL after the big battle ended since she was in this all new world, but there are others that suggest that she could have been dusted along with Thanos and his armies. What’s crazy is that the Russos have also teased this. We’ve not got a confirmation of this feat as Joe Russo ended up leaving it quite vague. Here’s what he said in his interview with Fox 5 DC:
“The argument could be that Tony wished away all the evil . . . . Who knows? That’s a story for another time.”
There could be a lot of grey area in “all the evil” because before her change of hearts in 2023, Gamora had been following Thanos’ orders. So perhaps she could have been dusted or she could have survived since she did support the side that was right all along.
Logically, she cannot be killed off just like that because she is a character who keeps the Guardians in check. She keeps the family together and you could say that she is the mother who keeps all her children in line. So, a Guardians movie without her cannot be imagined. Her survival was even teased at the end of Endgame when Thor came aboard the Benatar. Right when Thor entered, Quill was looking at Gamora’s image and was figuring out a way to bring her back (the one who is stranded in 2023). So, she would only come back if she survived the snap. Hence we can say that Gamora did survive Tony’s snap after all.
Rocket's creator is the High Evolutionary, Drax is in for a big surprise when he discovers his daughter is alive. Rocket also gets a love interest in the form of Lylla. Nebula and Star Lord will grow into closer friends.

Details about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 revealed by Marvel Leaker Roger Wardell didn’t include Gamora at all. It said that Peter Quill and Nebula will form a strong bond of friendship while they pursue their next adventures. So this could mean that Gamora is completely out of the picture. Or it could mean that Quill and Nebula bond together while they look for Gamora.
As we’ve established, Gamora is a very important MCU character and we cannot imagine a Guardians movie without her. So she has to return in Vol. 3 and Zoe Saldana has already teased it. Here’s what she said during the ACE Comic Con Panel:
“It all depends. The technical answer is it all depends on what Marvel and James Gunn desire to do with the Guardians and with Gamora’s fate. I would eventually, there’s a part of me that wants her to go back, find her way back to the Guardians but there’s also a part of me that wants to explore a bad Gamora. I’ve never seen that and she’s, you know, she’s considered the most lethal assassin, the most lethal woman in the galaxy so I would want to see what that wrath looks like also because it would just give me layers to sort of work on. But yeah, I want her to get back to the Guardians.”
While all the actors and directors will continue giving us vague answers until Marvel makes an official announcement, we can go on to believe that Gamora will return as it is the most logical thing to happen next!
