Presenting – 10 Most Skilled Warriors of Game of Thrones Universe!!
10. Jaime Lannister
Ser Jaime Lannister is the heir to Casterly Rock and was skilled enough to be brought into the folds of the Kingsguard. After serving the Iron Throne for quite a long time, Jaime found himself questioning his ways and became more of an anti-hero of the series. Jaime’s fighting prowess was still unmatched even after he lost his way. He managed to get the upper hand in his fight with Ned Stark, a highly seasoned warrior himself. He also participated in the Battle of Winterfell, aiding the good guys in fighting the White Walkers and their army. After losing his right hand, he was no longer the fighter he used to be. But he still managed to be one of the best of the lot, if not the best that is.
9. Oberyn Martell
When Oberyn was young, he decided to travel to faraway exotic lands to rediscover his roots. He ended up fighting for the Second Sons as a mercenary for hire. He would then again find himself in the fighting pits of Essos, constantly fighting each day to survive. When Oberyn returned from Essos, he was a changed man. His martial arts prowess was unique and deadly. He had advanced knowledge of lethal poisons, a skill he used in the battlefield by coating each and every blade he had with poisons. Oberyn’s reputation as a fighter grew so much that he was called the ‘Red Viper of Dorne’. Oberyn almost managed to kill the Mountain in a Trial by Combat, but let his emotions take over him and let his guard down, which is why the Mountain was able to kill him by crushing his skull.
8. Grey Worm
As the leader of the Unsullied, a martial race that is trained from childhood to become a seasoned warrior, Grey Worm is the greatest Unsullied warrior to ever live. He was taken as a child by the Good Masters of Astapor and trained as a slave warrior. He proved his mettle in battle after he aided Daenerys in laying siege on Yunkai and the other slave cities with only a handful of men and still coming out as the victor. He then led the Unsullied into invading Casterly Rock as well as King’s Landing. He also showed his truly gifted he is as a spearman during the Battle of Winterfell.
7. The Mountain
His real name is Ser Gregor Clegane of House Clegane, one of the most loyal Vassal Houses of House Lannister. Whenever the Lannister armies encounter a problem they cannot solve (which is saying something), they look to Gregor Clegane for help. With one swing of his sword, he can chop of 3 heads. His enormous strength is complemented his size. The only downside to his stature is that he is somewhat slow. If an enemy is quick enough to cut him and jump around, Clegane has a hard time countering. Oberyn Martell did it and almost succeeded. The Hound did it and finished the job. The Mountain became a force to be reckoned with after Qyburn’s inhumane experiments turned him into a super strong zombie knight.
6. The Hound
He was only 12 when he killed a man and became a stone-cold murderer. The only way for the Hound aka Ser Sandor Clegane after that was up. He is scared of fire after his brother tortured him when he was a child for playing with the latter’s toys without his permission. The Hound was a member of the Kingsguard even though he was not a knight. He has fought in numerous wars and seldom suffered defeat. Even though he was scared of fire, he still managed to defeat Sir Berric Dondarrion when the entire surrounding arena was aflame. He managed to do the impossible after he successfully killed the one man no one ever though could be killed – Ser Gregor Clegane but lost his life in the process.
5. Brienne of Tarth
Brienne of Tarth became the leader of Renly Baratheon’s Kingsguard after defeating each and every male contender for the said post. She would then go on to swear an Oath to Caitlyn Stark and promise her to protect her daughters at all cost. Lady Brianne is now Ser Brienne of Tarth. She is the leader of the Kingsguard as a reward for her bravery and courage in the battle of Winterfell against the White Walkers and the Undead and her service to the Iron Throne. Given that she has accomplished so much, defeating countless stereotypes and prejudice held against women in Westeros, speaks wonders about her abilities.
4. Khal Drogo
Khal Drogo is the epitome of what a Dothraki warrior strives to become. He is big but he is also fats. He is bulky but he can be agile as well. Khal Drogo is a Khal that commanded the biggest Dothraki Horde called a ‘Khalasar’ in the history of mankind. Every Khal has to answer a challenge to his throne, no matter who it is and if the challenger wins, the Khal has to give up his throne. Khal Drogo had managed to stay undefeated even though his Khalasar had the largest number of challengers since any Dothraki could have challenged him. When Mago, a guy of equal size and weight, challenged him to a death match, Khal Drogo ripped his throat out with his bare hands without wearing any armour, even though Mago was using the Arakh – the traditional Dothraki curved sword.
3. Jon Snow
Jon Snow may look baby-faced but he has managed to grill himself in the battlefield and grill himself to become one of the greatest warriors of Westeros. His swordsmanship skills are unmatched and second only to a select few. He is known to be a great tactician and his experience in battle has proven to be a huge ally, helping him understand when and how to strike. He wields the Valyrian Long sword Longclaw. His reputation as one of the greatest warriors of the Seeven Kingdoms has only grown after his participation in leading the Northmen to victory in the Battle of the Bastards, Battle of Winterfell and Battle of King’s Landing.
2. Arya Stark
Many would bend after facing the amount of misfortune that Arya Stark had faced in her life. She saw her father beheaded and then right after that saw her mentor Sir Syrio Forel, a father figure to him, die protecting her. When she travelled to Braavos to train under the Faceless Men in the House of Black and White, she disobeyed orders and was struck blind by ingesting poison. But she overcame everything. After losing her sight, Arya honed her sense of hearing and became a blind force to be reckoned with. She has now become one of the toughest people ever. She assassinated the Night King as well as killed Walder Frey and his entire family in cold blood. Her skills in stealth are unmatched in Westeros.
1. Arthur Dayne
Probably the most skilled swordsman to ever exist in the Seven Kingdoms, Ser Arthur Dayne was a legendary swordsman and a highly reputed veteran hailing from House Dayne. Dayne was called the “Sword of the Morning“, a title bestowed on him by King Rhaegar Targaryen, his best friend, and closest confidante. His skills with the sword were so sharp that he was recruited into the Kingsguard right away by Rhaegar. He wielded the Valyrian steel sword called Dawn and used it to vanquish many foes of the Iron Throne. His greatest victory was probably killing the Smiling Knight, a mad and insanely huge swordsman who was rumoured to be even bigger than Gregor Clegane aka the Mountain.
