New Report Suggests that Marvel Has Plans for a Spider-Man, Wolverine & Deadpool Team-up Film

Owning the X-Men for almost 2 decades, Fox has only been able to make us fall in love with just 2 of their characters. Let’s just exclude the Fantastic Four from the conversation as Fox hasn’t done anything memorable with them. But they have devoted time over the X-Men, and have managed to make more good X-Men movies than bad. But still, the only two characters that people have cared about over the years is Wolverine and Deadpool. Now we know that these two characters carry a lot of weight, so the MCU has to use them really well, even if the rest of the X-Men are completely ignored.

Kevin Feige has said it time and time again that Marvel will take their time with the Fox properties. They’ve currently got a plan that runs at least for the next 5 years, so we shouldn’t expect anything regarding the X-Men for that period. He told iO9:

“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

But still we keep getting new reports and rumors regarding what Marvel is going to do with the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties. The one thing that all of us can agree upon is that Deadpool is character that should be used very soon. If Fox would not have sold themselves to Disney, then we would have been gearing up for the X Force movie next year. But ever since the properties have shifted to Disney, there has been no movement upon Deadpool and the X Force. So what is it that Marvel plans to do next?

According to We Got This Covered’s close source, Marvel is actually planning to use Wolverine and Deadpool soon enough. Apparently, the site claims that a team up film involving Spider-Man, Deadpool and Wolverine is what Marvel wants to do. Spider-Man has had some great adventures with both Wolverine and Deadpool in the past, and we’ve always wanted to see Wolverine and DP get together on the big screen, so why not give us a trio?!

Ryan Reynolds Hugh Jackman Deadpool Wolvernie Team-up Movie

Spider-Man is Marvel’s next big thing. Even though Sony and Marvel have just one more movie left in their agreement, the contracts can obviously be extended. While we would obviously be in line to get a new actor to portray Wolverine, Deadpool obviously is has to be played by Ryan Reynolds itself. Apparently, JK Simmons will be reprising his role as JJJ in the MCU, so Reynolds could do the same as well.

Deadpool 2 Dark Phoenix

According to Kevin Feige, the introduction of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men would be just like they have been doing other properties, i.e. either through solo movies or through crossovers. Here’s what he told Fandango:

“You know, oftentimes it just comes down to a specific character in a specific story and a specific way to introduce them,” Feige noted. “So sometimes, like with Spider-Man and Black Panther, that made sense. Then, other times, with characters like Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Thor, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man… it’s fun to introduce them in their own movies first. So it just depends on the story we’re trying to tell.

X-Men Fantastic Four Fox Civil WarIt’s great to [finally] have what most companies that hold a lot of intellectual property have, and it’s access to all those characters,” the producer confessed. “We were one of the few companies that has a lot of characters but didn’t have access to a whole bunch of them, and now that we do, it’s wonderful. They’re back in the sandbox, in the toy chest, and now as ideas come up and as opportunities come up, we can utilize them, which feels really nice.”

We hope that Marvel just starts to utilize these properties real soon. Let’s see what they bring to the table.
