X-Men: Dark Phoenix will introduce us to the critically acclaimed Dark Phoenix saga. It will be the first movie that touches upon the actual exploits of Jean Grey after she turned into an evil psychic entity/God. X-Men: The last Stand tried and failed miserably at showing the same thing to us. But X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to change all that. Many claim it will be one of the definitive and highest grossing movies of the year. 10. Telekinesis
The power of Telekinesis is already ingrained in Jean Grey. As Marvel Girl, she could use her own mind to lift, pull and push objects. In several situations, her telekinetic prowess came in handy to defeat powerful foes and aid in rescue efforts. Magneto has a similar skill set but it is limited to metals. Jean Grey has no such boundaries. She can use it on anything or anyone she chooses to. Moreover, the Phoenix Force, itself a psychic entity with vast psionic abilities, only amplifies her already incredible telekinetic feats. Dark Phoenix is capable of moving entire planets with ease. She even destroyed an entire solar system by using her telekinesis to destabilize the core of the star itself, making it go supernova.
9. Telepathy
Jean Grey’s telepathy is an ability that even a known telepath like Charles Xavier fears. While it is always her telekinesis that took centre stage in battle, her telepathic powers are also worth mentioning. Professor X was so scared of her telepathy that he placed mental blocks within her psyche to stop her from, using it. As Dark Phoenix, those mental blocks no longer apply. Jean Grey is known to access the collective minds of entire civilizations, causing them immense mental pain within a matter of seconds. Her telepathic range is now virtually infinite and knows no limits.
8. Interstellar travel
As a telekinetic, she could use her own mutant powers to lift herself up and move around in the skies. That was just a manifestation of Jean grey’s inherent powers of telekinesis. But as Dark Phoenix, she could do more than just lift herself up and push around. She could actually fly without using telekinesis. And since the Phoenix Force needs no sustenance in terms of food, water or air, as its avatar, Jean Grey does not as well. She can fly to anywhere in the universe and she can do it at speeds greater than that of light.
7. Matter Manipulation
Her powers of telekinesis go deep. She can use it for a variety of effects. As Dark Phoenix, Jean Grey can manipulate matter at molecular and even sub-atomic levels. This power thus gives her the ability to change the form of anything or anyone she wishes. She can turn a bar of soap into gold or a human being into a coconut tree and you could not do a thing about it. In X-Men: The Last Strand, we see Jean grey use a similar ability to kill Cyclops, who was assumed to have been disintegrated by the Dark Phoenix.

Vulcan, Cyclops’ brother, is considered an Omega Level Mutant because he can manipulate all forms of energies in ways one could have never thought to be possible. Dark Phoenix takes it up a notch. She has the power to absorb energies of entire star systems, black holes or even a whole galaxy, extinguishing unimaginable number of lives in a second. Not just that, she can even manipulate the energy she absorbed as an offensive weapon. She once used Cyclops’ optic blasts against him by absorbing it point blank and using it against him moments later.
4. She is immortal
Once you are the Phoenix Force’s avatar, you cannot die. The reason is simple – the Phoenix Force’s sole purpose to exist is to maintain balance between chaos and cosmos. It destroys whatever it’s judges to be a remnant of stagnation and paves the way for the creation of something new. As a result, if its host dies, it can recreate him or her depending on whether the person is still useful to maintain that balance. Jean Grey has the power to resurrect herself back from the dead an infinite amount of times as long as the Phoenix Force wills it.
3. Cosmic Fire
Normal fire requires oxygen. But Cosmic Fire does not. It burns brighter, is several times hotter and is not limited to the limitations of normal fire. It is so potent that once something catches it, not even an ounce of ash is left behind. The Comic Fire can even burn underwater or in space, indicating that it does not even need oxygen. As Dark Phoenix, Jean Grey can not only create such Cosmic Fire but also manipulate it as her personal plaything.
2. Mutant Gene activation
The Phoenix Force’s ability to give its Avatar the power to absorb energies and manipulate them gives the Dark Phoenix an additional superpower. The Dark Phoenix cannot only manipulate but also sense latent energy. The Mutant-X Gene is sometimes hidden within some individuals and could be counted as a latent power source. Jean Grey, as the Dark Phoenix, uses a combination of her telepathy and matter manipulation powers top jumpstart mutations in individuals possessing such a gene and give them superpowers. Although she has seldom used this ability in combat!
1. Psychic Amplification
Jean Grey was already a mutant with incredible telepathic and telekinetic abilities before the Phoenix Force possessed her. The Phoenix Force only seeks out individuals that possess the abilities of empathy, telepathy, telekinesis or matter/energy manipulation, or a combination of such powers. Jean Grey fits the bill perfectly. She is a powerful telepath, a gifted telekinetic and has brilliant empathic powers. Moreover, the Phoenix Force is an entity literally made of pure psionic energy. It is itself a huge power source for Jean grey to tap and harvest. Whichever being the Phoenix Force decides to possess, he or she ends up having his or her powers amplified. The fact that Jean Grey is a telepath and a psychic is only icing on the cake.
X-Men Dark Phoenix is set for a release on the 6th of June this year. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
The X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe when one of their own, Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she’s hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Before Dark Phoenix hits the screens, prepare for a Marvel movie from a different studio! Avengers: Endgame is set for release on 26th April 2019. The official film synopsis of the movie has been recently released and it states:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
