Ben Schwartz Says Plastic Man Could Be DC’s Very Own Deadpool
Deadpool has been an immense success at the box-office and it’s not just about the profits, but is a lot more than that. The character has made its way into the list of favorite superheroes of a lot of people. We never imagined that a character like Deadpool would be able to achieve this much success but the savage blood friendly killing machine became really popular in little time. On the other side, it has been suggested by Sonic the Hedgehog star, Ben Schwartz who could play Plastic Man that the character could be DC’s Deadpool.
The star said this because of the similarities between the two in terms of their nature and attitude. Like Deadpool, Plastic Man is also very funny and carefree who kills his enemies with a smile on his face. During the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, when ComicBook asked Ben Schwartz about his take on Plastic Man, he said,
“If you look at the original Plastic Man, he’s a thief, he gets these superpowers, and then he uses his connections with being in the crooked world to aid the police.”
“But in my head, how much fun if he was a thief, got superpowers, and was like, ‘Screw it, I want to keep being crooked.’ But he’s also if you look at the cartoons or the other iterations of him, he’s funny! He’s so funny. And I think what Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller did with Deadpool, you could have a funny superhero in DC. Shazam! just did it and I think it’s gonna be great. That’s it, I just love that character a lot. I think I’d get to be goofy if I ever got the chance to do it.”
Last year, Warner Bros. announced that Amanda Idoko will work as the screenwriter of this movie. Amanda has made a name for herself by showing her class in ‘Breaking News in Yuba County’. After which, Schwartz showed his immense interest in playing this character again on Twitter.
Also, Schwartz had the backing of Shazam! director David F. Sandberg as he had hinted towards pulling the Plastic Man movie as well. But, Sandberg had tweeted that it’ll happen only if Schwartz is ready for the job. Here’s how the conversation happened:
So, there are chances that we are going to hear some updates about this soon. For now, all eyes are on Shazam! which is releasing today in some countries.
