Justice Society of America Movie:
The Justice League movie may have shot down the career prospects of the Super Seven in the DC Extended Universe, but their story is far from over. Justice League is just one of many superhero iterations in DC Comics. There are numerous such teams with the term ‘Justice’ preceding in big and bold letters in the comic book universe of DC. One of those teams has been in the pipeline for a live-action adaptation if rumors are to be trusted. The DCEU is considering saying goodbye to the Justice league and welcomes the newest Superhero team extraordinaire to the big screens. Presenting – Justice Society of America movie in the works, claims Warner Bros!!
The internet is rife with rumors stating that the Justice Society of America, one of DC Comics’ most popular superhero teams, is coming to the theatres pretty soon. Diehard DC Comics fans would know what we are talking about. Justice League may be the most well-known DC Superhero team, but they were far from being the first one on the scene.
The Justice Society of America, a predecessor to the 21st Century Justice League, came into the block in the 1940s and has still managed to stay relevant with the changing times. They have had numerous member shuffles over the years. Some of the team’s most iconic superheroes are Hawkman, Sandman, the Spectra and Hawkgirl. At one point of time, it even had multiple golden age superheroes that have become obscure in the modern-day comic books.
Some other members of the team include superheroes like Atom Smasher and Star Girl. The heroes will be reportedly introduced in the Black Adam solo movie featuring none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the eponymous superhero. The Black Adam movie will sow the seeds of the JSA movie storyline which will eventually lead to a superhero team origin story in the near future.
There may not be much movie source material on the JSA members but the Small Screen TV Shows are rife with these guys. DC has started its DC Streaming service which will feature Swamp Thing, an erstwhile JSA member and the platform is also planning a Star Girl TV Show. The TV Shows in the CW network based on DC Superheroes under the Arrow-verse banner; have all featured the Justice Society of America superheroes. The Legends of Tomorrow and Super Girl are prime examples. The Smallville TV Show has also featured several prominent Justice Society of America superheroes.
With the Black Adam movie yet to be awarded a definite release date, we are still unsure how things for the Justice Society of America might pan out. Black Adam is generally seen as the arch-nemesis of Captain Marvel aka Shazam of the DC Extended universe. The Shazam movie has been confirmed to not feature Black Adam in any role, so we have to wait until more news updates hit us in the face.
The last movie to be featured under the DCEU banner was Aquaman. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people — and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm’s half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.
The Justice League movie hit the theatres worldwide on the 15th of November, 2017. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
