There’s still a bit more than a month left for Avengers: Endgame to arrive, but we know that it is going to be the biggest superhero movie of all time in every way shape and form. The Russos and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have devoted years of their life’s work upon Infinity War and Endgame, and now we will get the fruit of their hard work. Talking about the many records this film is going to break, one of the sure shot records that are to be broken is being the lengthiest movie in the Superhero Genre.
It has been claimed multiple times that Avengers: Endgame is at least 3 hours long and Disney is actually happy with the Run Time. With this run time, it is not only the longest MCU movie, but it may become the longest Superhero movie as well. So far, this record has been held by Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition being 182 Minutes long. According to Anton Volkov from TrailerTrack, Endgame also clocks a run time of 182 Minutes. So, Endgame will equal the record of BvS, if not beat it. We’d only have a difference of a few seconds between them.
This number should still be taken as a grain of salt as the run time could be a few minutes higher or under the 182-minute mark. But let’s just hope that it is higher. Mind you, this film will have the longest credits, so even if it is 3 hours long, at least 15 minutes should amount to the credits, and rest of the time would account for the movie. Endgame actually has so much to do that even 3 hours seems smaller.
It has to address the post-snap struggles of the Avengers, bring the dusted characters back, address the greater threats, pay off the character arcs of every MCU veteran really well, and give a satisfying end to the Infinity Saga. All this might seem unachievable in 3 hours, but we know that The Russos can do it.
Infinity War gave less amount of screen time to the likes of Captain America, Hulk, and Black Widow, and Hawkeye was totally absent. So this movie has to give us more of these heroes, and also allow us to spend a justifiable amount of time with the disintegrated heroes.
Black Panther became a huge deal, but his lack of screen time in the Infinity War proved that Marvel wasn’t aware that Black Panther would become this big. Now Endgame would probably have more of him once he comes back to life.
Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26, and it’ll presumably star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tessa Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, Katherine Langford, Stellan Skarsgard, Ava Russo and Brie Larson.
Here’s the new synopsis of Avengers: Endgame:
“Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and half the life in the universe instantly dissolved. Now a ragged group of surviving warriors, including Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk works to counteract the Mad Titan’s genocidal action.
Since our heroes couldn’t stop Thanos the first time, what makes them think they can win in a rematch? The answer may be in overwhelming power, thanks to Captain Marvel, or in the tiniest spaces between atoms accessible to Ant-Man. Avengers: Endgame will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. When it’s all over, nothing will be the same.”
