Chris Hemsworth is Going to Play Hulk Hogan in His Upcoming Movie

The greatest thing about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that whoever this franchise casts to star in their movies becomes huge instantaneously. A number of doors open up for them even outside of the MCU, and their careers just become roads to Goldmines. Well, this thing worked the most for all the Phase 1 heroes as their careers just became huge after appearing in Marvel. Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. became two of the highest paid actors in Hollywood, and the Chris Evans & Chris Hemsworth also got great roles from there on.

Outside of Marvel, Chris Evans doesn’t like to star in these big budget blockbusters as he prefers more of the smaller budget indie films, but when you talk about Chris Hemsworth, he is just making it big like no one else. There was a time right before Thor where he was actually about to Quit acting. Here’s what he told Men’s Health:

“I was about to quit. I always wanted to act, and one of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents’ house off. I’d asked Dad once when he thought he’d pay it off and he said, ‘Honestly, probably never.’ Most people are in that boat and I wanted to change that.

And then my mentality changed, which came from being at a point where I was like, ‘I’m going to go back to Australia.’ I had one more audition where I was like, ‘Do this for his house. Think about reasons other than yourself.’ That was for The Cabin in the Woods, and I got that job, and from there I got Red Dawn. And then I got Thor.”

Well, we are glad that he didn’t. Now having spent a decade working in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth is probably at the end of his MCU journey because of the fact that his contract has expired. But he certainly has shown interest in an extended contract, but that will depend upon where Avengers: Endgame takes his character.

If Thor gets killed off, then there’s probably no future for Hemsworth, but due to the recently grown fandom for his character and the Avengers 4 reshoots, we think that Thor might just come out alive from the Endgame.

Chris Hemsworth has shown interest in continuing his solo franchise and actually making a sequel for Ragnarok along with Taika Waititi. But all that is in the farther future. What’s interesting is that Chris Hemsworth has some big projects coming in outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently wrapped up production on the Netflix movie Dhaka, which has been written by Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo.

Moving on from that, he is the lead in Sony’s reboot sequel Men in Black: International, which is going to hit the theatres this summer. Well, that’s not it for him as he has now bagged another huge role in a biopic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix currently has a Hulk Hogan Biopic under negotiations, and Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the might wrestler.

The film has bagged the latest upcoming DC Comics movie duo, Todd Phillips and Scott Silver as director and writer respectively. This duo played the same role for the Joaquin Phoenix starrer Joker, which is yet to hit the theatres later this year.

This Hulk Hogan Biopic is going to be produced by Bradley Cooper, who recently made his debut in the Director’s Chair, in 2018’s big blockbuster A Star Is Born. Along with him and former WCW mastermind Eric Bischoff, Chris Hemsworth himself will serve as a Producer for the film.

2019 is going to be huge for Chris Hemsworth as it starts with Avengers: Endgame, goes through Men in Black: International, and ends with Dhaka, but 2020 is also going to be big for the big Aussie Man. Along with the Hulk Hogan Biopic, he will also star in the Michael Bay-directed Robopocalypse. So, he may be getting a break from Thor, but he’s still making it huge, with 2019 and 2020 probably being the biggest years of his career.
