Amongst the many characters that are going to be brought together in Avengers: Endgame, the one character that probably holds the biggest merit as compared to everyone is none other than Ant-Man. Sure, Captain America and Iron Man are going to have the biggest story arcs in the film, and the likes of Thor, Captain Marvel & even Ronin will have crucial parts to play, but Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man is more crucial to the plot than you can even imagine.
The ending of Ant-Man and the Wasp left Ant-Man is a state which probably makes him the most important character, to begin with, in Avengers: Endgame. Without him, the whole thing could fall apart. He is the protagonist that initially moves the story forward.
Even though Scott Lang is a jolly-fun character, he is going to bring his A-game into this movie. The new trailers for the film have confirmed that he ends up at the Avengers facility, which means he safely got out of the Quantum Realm.
We know that time vortexes exist in that dimension and there’s a bit of time jump that we would get as well, showing us the aftermath of the Decimation. So, Scott will travel a few days forward in time through the time vortex in the Quantum Realm.
Since he’s the only one alive who has made it out of the Quantum Realm alive, not once but twice, he’s going to be a real big asset to the team. The Avengers are not going to move on, but if Scott doesn’t arrive at the doorstep of the Avengers, the plot doesn’t move forward in the way we think it would.
He is the one that brings the shrinking tech and the knowledge of the Quantum Realm to Tony Stark. So, his suit will be responsible for the Quantum Realm suits that the entire team gets. He is the living breathing evidence of time travel. Moreover, we have also seen him present with Tony Stark in the Avengers 1 timeline, so he is going to have a lot of adventures through the past events of the film.
But not just Avengers: Endgame, Kevin Feige teased that Ant-Man and the Wasp would be an integral part of the MCU as it moves forward as this is the only franchise that digs deep into the Quantum Realm. A large part of the MCU’s future is going to be the Quantum Realm because Captain Marvel is going to have elements of it, and so will Doctor Strange. Here’s what Feige said:
“Ant-Man and The Wasp also connects directly to Avengers 4. These characters are going to be very important going forward.”
So it is really important for people to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp to get the proper know-how of things happening in the Avengers: Endgame and beyond. No one really thought that this C-list character from the comics will get to play such a huge role in the MCU. Also, we just have to get a moment of Giant Man and Thanos in the film as that is going to be awesome.
Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26, and it’ll presumably star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tessa Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, Katherine Langford, Stellan Skarsgard and Brie Larson.
Here’s the official synopsis of Avengers: Endgame:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
