Batman:
Aquaman’s success will surely take the Worlds of DC into a totally different direction, which will be Miles away from the world that Zack Snyder had built, or probably was building before he was taken off. His movies were a victim of major studio interferences which led to complete rehashing and alterations of the long story that Snyder wanted to tell.
BvS Ultimate edition gave us hints of the direction Snyder was taking the franchise in. His original Justice League would have been very different from what we saw. Joss Whedon claims that he “tried,” but WB gave him an impossible task to accomplish. Moving past all that, the story threads that Snyder had set up back in BvS would have led to the death of Batman.
Here’s a basic summary of how Justice League 2 would have played things out. With the League coming into formation properly against Darkseid, it was believed that Batman would have had a big possibility to die in Justice League 2, and this would have given Ben Affleck an exit on a high note, and it would have allowed someone else to take the mantle of Batman in Matt Reeves’ Batman movie. And the Knightmare sequence would have come into a great effect.
With Superman turning into a tyrant, Cyborg being controlled by Darkseid (maybe), Justice League 2 would have seen the rest of the League including Batman, Diana, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern(s) and possibly Shazam take on Darkseid, the Parademons, Superman and Cyborg. And since, it is a Justice League movie, Sups and Cyborg would have changed sides and joined the League towards the end.
Well, the death of the Batman is not we as fans would have loved to see, but it would have happened if Snyder would have given the full control just the way James Wan got. But now that we won’t be seeing any of this, it would be okay for us to predict the way Bruce would have been hashed out of the DCEU.
Coming from the Vero app, we may have actually gotten the way Snyder planned for Batman to go out. A fan named Eric M. Blake posted his theory of how Batman would have died in the 5 part conclusion Snyder intended, and Snyder actually appreciated what he wrote. Check it out:
While Snyder does appreciate this, we cannot be sure whether this was exactly what he had intended. It would obviously be somewhere along those lines, but this exact sequence happening in future movies may not be what Snyder would have intended. Naming the son after a sacrificial character is way too bloated so that might not have happened.
Also, the entire Flash warning Bruce in the past and the Knightmare scene hinted the death of Lois Lane which made Superman turn into a tyrant. So, the entirety of this theory could not be correct, and Snyder just appreciates it as it is close to what he might have been set.
But now that Aquaman has made more than $1 Billion, he will be turned into the center of the Universe leading along with Wonder Woman. The entry of Shazam may lead to a new DC trinity that replaces Batman and Superman with Aquaman and Shazam, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.
DC’s next few projects set in the same Universe include Shazam!, Wonder Woman 1984, Birds of Prey and probably Black Adam. Green Lantern Corps may take its time to get off the ground, and The Batman may or may not be set in the same Universe as Matt Reeves largely wants to do his own thing. When it comes to the Flash, the film may turn into another one of Hollywood’s Gambits.
But we should not forget the contribution that Snyder has made to this Universe. He is the unsung genius that brought us Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition). Justice League should not be considered a Snyder movie as he did not get to finish it, and his vision was totally altered because WB brought in Joss Whedon to finish the movie where Snyder left off. We may never even get to see a Justice League 2 as it will all be set around the Wonder Woman and Aquaman franchise.
